[Abstract] Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of shortwave ultraviolet in the treatment of herpetic stomatitis in children. Methods A total of 112 children with herpetic stomatitis who were admitted to our hospital from January 2019 to May 2020 were selected as the research subjects, and they were randomly divided into the control group and the experimental group, with 56 cases in each group. The control group was given conventional treatments such as antiviral, oral care, and maintaining water and electrolyte balance. The experimental group was given shortwave ultraviolet local oral irradiation on the basis of the control treatment, once a day, 4-6 seconds each time, five days in a row. The total effective rate, the antipyretic time, the time of appetite improvement, the time of herpes disappearance, and the incidence of ulcers were compared between the two groups. The side effects of local shortwave ultraviolet radiation in the oral cavity were observed. Results The antipyretic time, appetite improvement time, and oral herpes subsidence time of the children in the experimental group were significantly shorter than those of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The incidence of oral ulcers in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group, and the difference was also statistically significant (P<0.05). The total effective rate of treatment in the experimental group was 92.9%, and the total effective rate in the control group was 78.6%. The total effective rate of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). There was no discomfort and pain in the treatment of oral herpes and ulcers with shortwave ultraviolet rays, and no obvious side effects were found. Conclusion Drugs combined with shortwave ultraviolet local irradiation are safe and effective in the treatment of herpetic stomatitis in children.
