1 Research status, significance and value at home and abroad

1.1 Background and significance of the project research

A new round of industrial revolution is going on all over the world, and industrial intelligent transformation is the core theme of this round of industrial revolution. It is a reform of economic and social system, and its all-round and multi-level evolution characteristics will have a far-reaching impact on the international industrial division of labor and competition pattern. In order to meet this round of industrial revolution, countries have successively launched national-level development strategies, such as Germany’s industrial 4.0 strategy, the "reindustrialization" strategy of the United States and Japan, and the "made in Britain 2050" strategy of Britain.

To meet challenges, the Chinese government timely put forward the development strategy of "made in China 2025" with Chinese characteristics in May 2015, adhering to the basic policy of "innovation driven, quality first, green development, structural optimization and talent oriented" and the basic principle of "guided by the market and the government, based on the current and long-term, overall promotion and key breakthrough, independent development and open cooperation". The strategic goal of manufacturing power could be realized through "three steps". The first step: by 2025, it will become a manufacturing power; the second step: by 2035, China’s manufacturing industry as a whole will reach the middle level of the camp of world manufacturing powers; the third step: by the 100year after the founding of new China, its comprehensive strength will rank among the world’s manufacturing powers. "Made in China 2025" has brought industrial upgrading, and packaging design will play an important role. Packaging design covers a wide range, including machinery, materials, design concept, packaging technology and packaging form. The diversification of customers’ demand for packaging is becoming more and more obvious, especially product packaging. Its purpose is no longer to pursue safety and reliability, but to integrate more personalization and cultural connotation. A good product packaging design will improve the quality of made in China. 2016 is the first year of "the 13five-year plan", and the development of packaging design is also facing unprecedented opportunities. "Made in China 2025" puts forward the basic policy of talent oriented, which requires more talents with solid professional foundation and innovative spirit, as well as strengthening vocational education and skill training. The training of high skilled talents is the best combination of "made in China 2025" and university education. In the training process, in addition to the necessary professional theory learning, it focuses on the training of students’ professional skills, in order to cultivate students into high-level skilled talents with proficient professional skills. In the context of the development strategy of made in China 2025, according to the curriculum characteristics of the Packaging Design, the "packaging task-based" teaching mode is introduced to carry out research and practice of curriculum reform from three aspects: curriculum content arrangement, curriculum design training and graduation design training, so as to cultivate students’ practical ability and innovative spirit, and enable students to learn to study independently and practice actively, enhance students’ packaging practice ability and employment competitiveness, and cultivate more and better product packaging design talents for "made in China 2025".

1.2 Value of research

The curriculum Packaging Design integrates many factors such as art, science, materials, market consumers, society and psychology. The curriculum reform of the Packaging Design aims to teach students to be a good designer who can accurately grasp various material and spiritual requirements of consumers, use unique design language to express them vividly, create consumption, promote consumption and know consumption, create a perfect image for products and a good image for enterprises, thereby better meeting requirements of China’s manufacturing power for the cultivation of high-quality design talents.

1.3 Research status and trend at home and abroad

The concept of "made in China 2025" was first proposed in 2014, and it was officially issued by the State Council in May of 2015. It is the strategic program of national manufacturing in China. In just two and a half years, it has been a hot topic in the industry. Foreign countries have various manufacturing strategies to realize their status as an industrial power, such as Germany’s "industry 4.0" strategy, Britain’s "made in British 2050 strategy", Japan’s "white paper of manufacturing industry" and Brazil’s "industrial power plan". Without exception, they regard the new generation of information technology as the leading force to regain the advantages of manufacturing industry and develop emerging industries.

Compared with developed countries, China’s packaging industry and packaging design education started late. From the development process of international packaging education institutions and the current situation of packaging design education in China, there is still a long way to go, especially the research and development of packaging design teaching is more urgent and necessary. With the prosperity of China’s economy and the development of industry and commerce, and the gradual transfer of big manufacturing country to manufacturing power under the background of "made in China 2025", packaging design is becoming more and more important. At present, there are few studies on the correlation between "made in China 2025" and the curriculum Packaging Design. The function of packaging design is to protect commodities, beautify commodities, convey commodity information, facilitate use, carrying, display, transportation and sales. It can be seen that packaging design shoulders the bridge function from "producer" to "consumer" in the development strategy of "made in China 2025". So, it must pay attention to the teaching research of the curriculum Packaging Design and explore the teaching methods suitable for students at all levels in order to cultivate better packaging design talents.

2 Research objective

The project team plans to study the teaching and experimental courses of the curriculum Packaging Design from the aspects of teaching contents, teaching methods and teaching means, integrate and optimize the teaching contents of the curriculum, adjust the curriculum structure, increase the content of practical courses, reform the teaching methods of the curriculum, and give full play to the role of online courses and video libraries purchased by the school library as auxiliary learning, and highlight the cultivation of students’ practical ability and innovative thinking. Through curriculum reform of the Packaging Design, guided by the cultivation of high-quality professional talents and centered on meeting the needs of society, this paper explores a new teaching mode of the curriculum Packaging Design.

3 Research content

3.1 Student survey

By means of questionnaire survey and theoretical analysis, supplemented by interview and data access, this paper investigates and understands the current situation of the comprehensive quality of students in this major and analyzes the existing problems.

The comprehensive status questionnaire of students includes two parts. Part one: 1-6 questions, basic information of students, such as gender, grade, political outlook, family economic status; part two: 7-20 questions, professional quality, such as basic learning status, practical operation ability, mastery of packaging design knowledge, training of service consciousness, mastery of computer and English, and humanistic quality; 21-35 questions, ideological and moral quality; 36-50 questions, psychological quality.

3.2 Reform of classroom teaching

The main teaching contents include: introduction, packaging design methods, the conception of packaging design and the expression of packaging design. During the explanation, the case analysis method is used to facilitate students’ understanding and learning. At the same time, it is combined with practice to introduce some new technologies and new progress. Additionally, students’ participation and classroom competition are introduced into teaching activities, and students are guided to learn the theoretical knowledge in packaging design through competitions or projects, so that students can learn in fun and learn to learn independently, to enhance students’ ability and employment competitiveness.

3.3 Practical teaching reform

During practical teaching, the teacher determines 2-6 design questions. Students choose to enter different groups according to their interests, and the number of each group should be controlled as much as possible. Firstly, all groups participate in the basic research and positioning of packaging design. Secondly, they complete the design homework respectively. During the completion process, it is promoted through group discussion, mutual evaluation of works and centralized comments by teachers, and finally a more reasonable and perfect packaging design works is formed. In this teaching activity, the theoretical part is decomposed at the same time. The core content is mainly explained by teachers, and the basic content is completed by students independently through the way of teachers setting questions. Different from the past, the explanation of theoretical knowledge is interspersed in practical teaching, which not only strengthens the close relationship between theory and practice, but also makes students realize that each part of theoretical knowledge is not dispensable.

3.4 Evaluation of educational reform effect

It is divided into evaluation of students (through tests and examinations) and students’ evaluation of experiments (through questionnaire survey). The reform of the teaching system of the curriculum Packaging Design is evaluated and fed back in the form of questionnaire from the aspects of teaching content, teaching method, teaching effect and teaching satisfaction. The questionnaire is self-administered, and all questionnaires respect personal privacy and are filled in anonymously. The first part of the questionnaire investi-

gates whether the students are satisfied with the overall experimental design. The second part asks questions about the reform contents adopted, and lets the students to give appropriate options. The options are divided into approval, neutrality and disapproval. Through feedback, it can know which aspects of the reform process have been affirmed and which aspects need further improvement, so as to further summarize and improve the later teaching.

3.5 Key issues to be solved

Under the demand of training high-level applied talents, the formulation of the integration and optimization scheme of the teaching content of the curriculum Packaging Design; design, analysis and feedback of practical teaching.
