At 09:23 Beijing time on September 15,a LM-11 solid launch vehicle launched the Jilin 1,Gaofen 03-1,and a set of 9 satellites, into their preset sun-synchronous orbits with success. This was the second sea-launch mission of LM-11,also its first operational commercial launch mission, which further demonstrated the reliability of sealaunch, demonstrating the routine nature of the sea-launch LM-11.
On June 5,2019,a LM-11 launched 7 satellites into orbit, signifying that China has achieved a significant breakthrough in sea launch technology.
Developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT) under CASC,the LM-11 solid launch vehicle is the only solid carrier rocket in China that can be launched from land and sea.Having the features of rapidness, convenience and flexibility,it acts as a pioneer in high-efficiency development in China’s commercial space area.To date,LM-11 has performed successfully 8 consecutive launches from land and 2 from the sea.
The Jilin 1,Gaofen 03-1 set of satellites includes 3 Gaofen 03C video satel-lites and 6 Gaofen push-broom satellites. One of the satellites was named Bilibili video satellite, which will be used for science popularization on the Internet. The set of satellites is planned to work together with in-orbit Jilin 1 satellites, providing more remote sensing data and product services for users in the industries of forestry, agriculture, grasslands, ocean, resources and the environment.
