浅论科技英语翻译方法

科技英语翻译实践首先要求译者通读整篇文本的大概意思，然后运用综合方法展开细致的翻译工作。

科技英语的翻译方法如下：

一、根据不同专业选择词义

英语词汇在不同的行业领域有不同的意义。因此,需要首先判明一个词在原句中属哪个专业范畴,再进一步确定其词义。

例如：

1.The resolution of digital panel in the numerically controlled machine is up to specification.

这台数控机床控制面板的分辨率符合规格。

2.The resolution efficiency of this compound depends on the types of the catalyst.

这种化合物的分解效率取决于不同的催化剂类型。

3.The inflammation resolution of the throat quickened the recovery of the patient.

喉咙炎症的消散加速了病人的康复。

二、进行词性转化

科技英语中存在很多名词化结构。而在汉语中通常是由动词表达的。

例如：

1.Formation and dissolution of aluminium carbide plays an important role in the wear process.

形成碳化铝和分解碳化铝在阴极炭块的损耗过程中起着重要的作用。英文名词Formation and Dissolution 在中文译文中翻成了动词形成和分解。

2.Interruption of electrolysis increased resistivity rapidly and finally returned to the original value.

中断电解过程会使电阻快速上升，并最终恢复至初始值。句中的名词Interruption 译为动词中断。

3.Application of the new binder paste can enhance the overall performance of the conveyer .

使用新型粘结材料能增强传送机的整体性能。原文名词Application 译为动词使用。

三、处理好后置定语结构

科技英语中常见后置定语结构，则包括了现在分词，过去分词和介词词组做后置定语。

例如：

1.Liquid magnesium in contact with carbon will only produce small amounts of aluminium carbide.

当液态镁接触炭块时只会产生少量的碳化镁。

2.Blending of coke is one possible way of optimizing the density of the dry aggregate.

混合焦炭是优化干骨料密度的一种可行方法。

3.The simulator is a well-designed structure consisting of a steel core with two iron rings.

模拟器的结构设计得很好,它由一个不锈钢心组成,不锈钢心上带了两个铁环。

四、译文要与原文功能对等

科技英语翻译不要求译文有文采，但是一定要准确。为了达到这一目的，可以改变原文结构，增减词汇，使译文功能相同。

例如：

The fuel and combustion air are introduced at the lower end of the kiln,and together with burning volatiles released from the raw petroleum coke,provide the heat necessary to bring the calcined petroleum coke to its peak temperature.After passing through the cooler,the petroleum coke is stored for shipment to the user.The waste heat from the gas stream can be used for generating steam and/or electricity.The gas stream may also be treated in various ways to remove particulates,residual tars and SO2.

燃料和燃烧气体从回转窑底部进入，和石油焦挥发分一同燃烧，将煅烧焦加热至最高温度。冷却后，煅烧焦被存放等待运至客户处。气流余热可被用于生产蒸汽和电能。可用多种方式去除气流中的颗粒、残余物和SO2。

五、结语

在科技英语翻译过程中，要采取综合的翻译方法，范围包括了词汇层面到句子层面。相同单词在不同专业具有不同的含义，词性的适时转变，以及译文的功能对等都是要在成功的译文里得到体现的。
