◎用法梳理

neither是一个使用频率较高的单词，现将其常见用法归纳如下：

一、作代词，意为“两者都不”，可单独使用，也可与介词of连用，后接复数名词或代词。作主语时，谓语动词用单数形式或复数形式都可以。例如：

Neither of them want / wants to do the dishes. 他们两个都不想洗餐具。

二、作形容词，意为“两者都不”。作定语修饰单数名词时，后面的谓语动词用单数形式。例如：

Neither answer is right. 两个答案都不对。

三、作副词，意为“也不”，此时多用于“neither + be动词（或情态动词） + 主语”结构中，表示前面所述的某种否定情况也适用于另一个人或物。例如：

Linda can’t play the guitar， neither can Kate. 琳达不会弹吉他，凯特也不会。

四、作连词，多构成neither... nor...结构，意为“既不……也不……”。当连接主语时，谓语动词要与nor后面的主语在人称和数上保持一致。例如：

Neither his father nor his mother likes the weather here. 他的父亲和母亲都不喜欢这里的天气。
