The ministry also issued the fi rst batch of 5G licenses for commercial use to China Telecom， China Mobile and China Unicom the same day， marking a new era in Chinas telecommunication industry.
The 5G technology， which can support next generation of mobile devices like driverless cars， is expected to generate 10.6 trillion yuan （$1.54 trillion） of economic output and over 3 million jobs between 2020 and 2025， according to a research report by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.
