Soon father said in a 5 voice, “Kate and Joan, a friend of mine is 6 here to see me this evening, and I wish to be 7 him. Will you go up to your own room?” We obeyed, went to our room and closed the door.
Soon I heard a 8 like that of a door burst in (闖入), and then a climb of feet. They were hurrying up the narrow 9 . Fearing that there was 10 near, I immediately took the pistol (手枪) on the table. To my scare, I saw, 12 my fathers shoulder, a gorilla (大猩猩), the worst enemy of the soldier in Europe, he was 13 my father. I raised the pistol and fired. The animal fell backwards with a(n) 14 loud cry. Father took the still 15 pistol from my hand, and fired another shot, which killed the gorilla.
It happened when father had 16 us upstairs because he thought he would be able to 17 the door—which was twenty feet away before the animal 18 it. However, the gorilla was too 19 ; and this was the cause of the 20 escape up the stairs.

I planted two seeds side by side in the soil in my backyard. The first said, “I want to grow! I want to send my roots 1
into the soil, and try to 2 . I want to feel the 3 of the sun on my face!” And it grew. The second seed said, “I am 4 . If I send my roots into the ground below, I dont know what I will meet in the 5 . If I push my way through the hard soil, I may 6 my small sprouts (芽). What if a small child may 7 me up from the ground. No, it is much better for me to wait until 8 .” A hen walking around for food found the waiting seed and 9 ate it.
I sometimes 10 myself—What if I stop focusing on the worst and go for the 11 ? Most people can do 12 things if they have the confidence to take the 13 , yet most people dont. There are lots of people 14 on the sofa saying, “Im going...” They will do it when they are rich and when they get 15 and their children are perfectly grown.
The 16 is that your life can never be 17 . Part of it might be, though. Step away from the sofa sitters who are 18
a single perfect day to begin 19 their dreams.
Believe in yourself and know that you can do anything! However, those who 20 to risk get controlled by life finally.
