Dalian Customs and Qingdao Customs Jointly Cracked a Case of Smuggling Cosmetics

Dalian Customs and Qingdao Customs have recently jointly launched a special mission to crack down on the parallel traders on Sino-South Korean routes, knocking out four parallel traders smuggling gangs, arresting 18 suspects, and ferreted out more than 20,000 pieces of cosmetics, with a preliminary estimate of 8 million yuan.

After the initial investigation, the four gangs have long been smuggling South Korean cosmetics, luxury watches, bags and other goods between China and South Korea through substituted buyers. The commodities involved contain many well-known cosmetics brands,including skin lotion, toner, lipstick, and other make-up. These cosmetics have no legal certificates of origin, quality inspection, etc., and their quality cannot be guaranteed.

Dalian Customs reminds that passengers should bring personal belongings into and out of the country only for their own use and in reasonable quantities. Those that exceed the limit will be regarded as imported and exported goods and must be truthfully declared to the Customs and subject to Customs supervision. Behaviors including hiding, smuggling and concealing the commodities to evade from customs supervision or transporting, carrying or mailing the commodities will be considered as the smuggling, which shall bear corresponding legal responsibilities.
