新的研究表明,对医生态度粗鲁不仅不能让病人得到理想的医疗,还会危害病人们的健康。研究者们建议要培养医生的抗干扰能力,把适应病人的抱怨作为医生从业训练的一部分。
I t's common sense that if you're rude to somebody, they probably won't be terribly nice to you back. This is the reason why we try to use our best manners. But if the person you're rude to is a doctor, there's a lot more at stake(在危险中;利害攸关).A new study suggests that when parents are unkind to doctors, their children receive poorer care.
For the study, the resear-chers had actors tell doctors and nurses dealing with plastic babies in simulated(模拟的)medical emergencies,“I knew we should have gone to a better hospital where they don't practice Third World medicine.”Other actors simply expressed their concern for the baby's well being.Parents often get what is contrary to their expectation when they speak ill of the hospital. For example, the doctors made more mistakes, communicated less effectively, got medical steps wrong, and made less accurate diagnoses throughout the entire day.
“Being exposed to rudeness weakened the very team and teamwork recognized as essential(要素)for patient care and safety,”the authors concluded.
Lead author Dr.Arieh Riskin conducted another study. It found similar effects when the comment was coming from another doctor. However, that doctor's colleagues didn't consciously(有意识地)register it.
Dr.Peter Bamberger was another author of the latest study. The study showed that the complaints doctors received didn't have to be extreme to have a negative effect.“They weren't going to extreme, they weren't violent. They just said things that weren't so pleasant for doctors to hear.”he said.
However, doctors were less likely to get thrown off by inconsiderate comments. The paper suggests that physicians should learn strategies to avoid getting distracted by rude behavior. It should be introduced to them as part of their training.
Patients,in the meantime, are better off not giving them such a distraction in the first place.
