A Report of Investigation and Study on College Students’Being Cheated and Preventive Mechanism——Take X college for Example

Abstract：College Students were cheated in or out of the campus have occurred often during their college years.Students are required to strengthen the knowledge of fraud prevention and enhance the awareness.The public security departments ought to strengthen supervision and propaganda Penalties for fraud.

Recent years,the cases that students were cheated in or out of the campus have occurred often during their college years.The events of fraud were covert and the victim as college students usually remained private,so that it has not draws wide attention from the society.

Five hundred questionnaire survey paper had randomly handed out in the campus of X college,and 477 effective questionnaires had been taken back.After taking back all of the questionnaires,the data were registeredintheprofessionalstatisticalsoftware SPSS 17.0 which offered the data in this whole article.

一、Respondents’basic information

The respondents distribute in 10 departments and 43 majors in X college.This survey aimed at the undergraduates from grade 1 to 3 because the senior students were mostly doing internship outside and were not living on campus.17.2%of them were freshmen,44.8%of them were sophomore,38.0%were junior.The survey data showed that respondents’age were between 17 to 22 years old.

二、Thebasicsituationofrespondentsdeceived

During college,students who had experience of being cheated accounted for 30.2%,who had no cheated experience accounted for 69.8%.More than 30%of the surveyed college have been cheated.If calculated from the number of the students in X college,there are over 3,000 people cheated during college.The number is so large,so the relevant departments must pay much attention to it.Among them,20%of freshmen,30%of sophomore students,and 35.2%of juniors in college had been cheated.This data suggests that the number of Art College students cheated is an upward trend with increasing grades.Implementation Council established fraud person's gender are:female(49.6%);male(34.5%);unclear (28.8%).Liar in women more than men 15.1%.

三、The Reason of Being Cheated

The objective reasons.Firstly,bad citizen quality and general mood of society.there were 44.6 percent victims chose this option.Secondly,not enough enforcement made by legal institution department.Thirdly,lack of campus safety awareness.There were five subjective reasons that college students had been cheated.Simple-mind and lack of social experiences,easily believed others and had little safety awareness,greed and focused on the immediate interests,careless and unconcerned,strong vanity.

四、Measures and Suggestions for fraud prevention

Think more effective ways of realizing handle is in turn:Seek help from the police or relevant departments(62.8%).Inform teachers or related management personnel(58.8%).Make decides according to how many they lost (58.8%). Talk to relatives and friends(30.9%).Owe unlucky to themselves(12.3%).

To prevent the college students themselves cheated way choice is in turn:Improve the awareness,learn to self-protection(94.4%).To grasp the principles to make friends,not emotions instead of reason(69.2%).Consciously abide by the rules and regulations of the school(44.2%).

There is question on the questionnaire:“What would you do if someone on road attempt to give you a little present?”57 percent chose “refuse”,33.1 percent chose “as the case may be”,7.6 percent chose“readily accept”,and 2.3 percent chose “other”.According to the data analysis,65.0 percent of“readily accept”had experience of being cheated,and 79.3 percent of respondents who chose“as the case may be”had been cheated.Half of victims chose“as the case may be”.80 percent of respondents who had not been cheated ever chose the“refuse”option,and 66.7%of respondents who chose“refuse”had never been cheated.The respondents who chose “as the case may be”had high ratio of being cheated,this shows that“curiosity”was an important reason to be cheated.
