College English teaching mode is particularly important for. Thus, this paper explores a new mode of College English teaching from the perspective of intercultural communication.

Ⅰ. The connotation of intercultural communication

Intercultural communication refers to the people or countries that communicate between different cultural backgrounds and languages. Different regions will produce different cultural backgrounds and languages, resulting in different religious beliefs, humanities and social environment, which caused distinctive local customs, social culture and biochemical habits. Intercultural communication is to reduce cultural differences in different places and to understand the culture of different places.

Ⅱ. Effective penetration of intercultural communication in College English Teaching

1. Make full use of teaching materials

College students should not only understand the sentence patterns, words and sentence structures in the textbooks, but also understand the culture related to sentence patterns through the textbooks. For example, in the course of lecturing, when the teacher paraphrases a sentence, he can quote some classics properly, and illustrate the history to expand their knowledge space.

2. Changing teaching concepts

The traditional English teaching mode is “listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating”. With the progress of society, English teaching is not only reflected in these five aspects. If you want to improve your English level, culture learning is necessary. Without cultural background, students will feel bored in the process of learning. Gradually, students will lose enthusiasm to learn English. We must ensure that teachers has changed their visions of English teaching and we must attach importance to the role of intercultural communication in learning. In the syllabus for college English teaching, it is required to actively implement the teaching of intercultural communication and try to expand studentscultural vision.

3. Improve teaching methods

Traditional teaching methods lack practice. We need to add some practical exercises related to culture in class. For example, English drama and literature works should be appreciated since they contain a lot cultural connotations.

4. Building open courses

Constructing open courses fully embody the main position of students. In order to carry out effective cultural infiltration, it is necessary to improve studentslearning enthusiasm, and turn passive learning into active learning. Under such circumstances, we can infiltrate cross-cultural communication. Thus, the effect of learning will be greatly enhanced and yield twice the result with half the effort.

5. Create a cross-cultural environment

College English teaching can offer some English conversation courses, employ foreign teachers to communicate with each other, and let students experience real cultural exchanges. At the same time, in the process of learning, some foreign films and music can also be included.

Conclusion: Through the discussion, we can see that intercultural communication plays a very important role in College English teaching. It can not only improve studentsEnglish proficiency, but also help the development of intercultural communication in China.
