Owning a persevering revolutionary culture is the driving force of cultural confidence. Owning constantly-innovative advanced socialist culture is the life of cultural confidence.

On the 95th anniversary of the founding of Chinese Communist Party， Xi Jinping stressed that： Chinese excellent traditional culture cultivated from the civilization progress over 5000 years， revolutionary culture and advanced socialist culture cultivated in the great struggle of the party and the people has accumulated the Chinese nations deepest spiritual pursuit and represented the Chinese nations unique spiritual identity， which are foundations and sources of cultural self-confidence that we talk about today.

一、The everlasting excellent traditional culture is a pride of cultural confidence.

Development and growth of a country are nourished by its historical resources and cultural heritages. Traditional culture not only has an impact on people's thinking modes and social actions constantly in the long historical development， but also is a thinking source for people to obtain national identity and the cohesion and unity of the country. Chinese civilization is the only civilization that has been never interrupted in the world. Chinese culture with over 5，000 years of history as the root and soul of the Chinese nation is the greatest common divisor for the Chinese people at home and abroad to build a spiritual homeland and to enhance cultural identity and value recognition. Forming the Chinese nations values， ideal personalities， thinking modes， ethical ideas， aesthetic sentiments and so on in the long-run development， the Chinese culture can "enhance the backbone and pride of being Chinese people". As our deepest cultural soft power and the parent of our cultural development， it accumulates the deepest spiritual pursuit of the Chinese nation.

Traditional Chinese culture， both extensive and profound， starts far back and runs a long， long course. Silk， ceramics， Chinese characters， the four precious articles of the writing table， the four great inventions of ancient China as well as traditional Chinese operas， rituals& music， paintings& calligraphy and poems are inseparable from generation-after-generation Chinese deep traditional culture， which have deeply affected Chinese people for thousands of years.endprint

Values from ancient times are also included in the Chinese traditional culture. For example， the striving spirit of "ceaseless self-improvement"， the patriotic feeling of "loyalty to serve the country"， the responsible awareness of “every man owning a duty to his country”， the self-sacrifice spirit of "laying down one's life for a just cause"， the innovative thinking of “discarding the old ways of life in favor of the new”， the moral consciousness of "helping those in distress" and the value idea of “public business coming before private affairs and the state coming before the family”， etc. have been always intellectual impetuses for the Chinese nation to forge ahead. Furthermore， the social idea of "harmony between man and nature" and "the whole world as one community"， the concept of "people-oriented" and “people being the foundation of the state” for governing country， the awareness that "Water can float your boat-it can also sink it.” and of “being prepared for danger in times of safety” for unexpected development， the peaceful idea of " real military prowess being to ensure peace" and “all nations living side by side in perfect harmony”， the philosophy of “helping others” and “not imposing on others” for living， the governing philosophy of “combining Confucian and law” as well as the oriental wisdom of “harmony being most precious” and “harmony in diversity” have always been ideological origins for the Chinese nation to govern the country. Until today， these ideas still have important spiritual values for governing state affairs well， ensuring national security and settling down and getting on with ones pursuit. The excellent Chinese traditional culture is not only an important spiritual resource for us to have equal and friendly exchanges with other countries， but also a pride for use to build and strengthen the cultural confidence in today when peace and development become the theme of the times.

二、Owning a persevering revolutionary culture is the driving force of cultural confidence.

Revolution is the main line of the development in the modern Chinese history. And the revolutionary culture cultivated and developed in the battle times is like the soil deeply rooted for the development of Chinese path， Chinese theory and Chinese system， which is also an indispensable outstanding gene for the Chinese social development. The revolutionary culture grew up at a critical and difficult moment. The revolutionary firmly mastered the most advanced revolutionary theory and firmly rooted it into the masses in the most difficult times to show the greatest creativity of the Chinese culture， achieving the brand-new revolutionary culture.endprint

"The revolutionary culture cultivated in the great struggle of the party and the people" as an important pivot of cultural confidence is formed in the course of the Chinese Communist Party leading the Chinese people to strive for freedom and liberation. Its unique culture type that is closely related to the development of Chinese culture and the Chinese revolutionary development has a firm and complete revolutionary spirit and a sincere and profound revolutionary connotation.

Adhering to the party's leadership is an inevitable choice to achieve peoples interests and the victory of revolution. Being confident in the revolutionary culture is upholding the confidence in the leadership of the Chinese Communist. Confidence of revolutionary culture is a motive support of the cultural confidence， inspiring us to insist on and pursue our dreams and goals. At the same time， the confidence in the revolutionary culture is the confidence in adhering to the revolutionary spirit that is the soul of the revolutionary culture. Jinggangshan spirit， the spirit of the Long March， Yan'an spirit and the spirits of Lei Feng， Jiao Yulu and earthquake relief are condensed with our party's glorious revolutionary traditions， which are spiritual banners in the new era. Age-long confidence in adhering to the revolutionary spirit still has a positive practical significance and value in the Chinese social development at present.

三、Owning constantly-innovative advanced socialist culture is the life of cultural confidence

New China's advanced socialist culture is a new culture. As early as 1940， Mr. Mao Zedong put forward a cultural program for new China， that is， the establishment of the Chinese nation's new culture that is new national， scientific and public democratic culture. The new democratic culture has been gradually transformed into the advanced socialist culture with the establishment of the socialist system since the foundation of new China.

The carrying advanced socialist culture is the Chinese nations inheritance and development of the excellent traditional culture and the red revolutionary culture. It is cultural creation guided by the Marxism. The obvious characteristics of the advanced socialist culture are the common ideal of socialism with Chinese characteristics， the national spirit with patriotism as the core， the time spirit with reform and innovation as the core and the socialist outlook for honor and dishonor. We have created the Chinese path， the Chinese model and the Chinese miracle in a few decades of socialist practice， which has fully explained that the advanced socialist culture is a viable culture that manifests the forward direction of developing human civilization.

Our cultural confidence points at both history and reality. Cultural confidence pointing at history means that we cherish the excellent traditional culture we owned and explore time-crossing factors in a scientific way to promote its creative transformation and innovative development. While the cultural confidence pointing at the reality is to fully affirm the outstanding achievements of the advanced socialist culture and the positive significance of the socialist culture with Chinese characteristics on the realization of national rejuvenation dream and the promotion of developing human civilization by convincing that the Chinese nation will create a new glory of culture. It is not just from the accumulation， inheritance， innovation and development of culture， but also from the vigorous vitality of today's socialism with Chinese characteristics and the bright prospects of realizing the Chinese dream.endprint
