Li Xiaohong Former President of Wuhan University Appointed as Deputy Minister of education

The State Council, Chinas cabinet, has announced the appointment and removal of several officials, according to a circular issued.

Li Xiaohong was removed from the post of president of Wuhan University and named vice minister of education. Li is 57 years old, from Hechuan, Chongqing. Li worked in Chongqing University and Wuhan University.

He was admitted to department of mining of Chongqing University in 1978. After graduation, he stayed in the university and worked in department of mining. He has been worked as the president of Chongqing University for nearly eight years since 2003.

In December 2010, Li worked as the president of Wuhan University. In September 2009, the then standing vice president Chen Zhaofang, Wuhan University, deputy party secretary Long Xiaole on suspicion of huge corruption was arrested in the infrastructure projects.

In December 2011, Li was elected as the member of Chinese academy of engineering.
