December 11thwill be a day of youthful energy as runners of all ages and abilities hit the streets of Guangzhou competing in 2016 Guangzhou Marathon.

In its fi fth edition, the 2016 Guangzhou Marathon, set for December 11, will see 30,000 runners of all ages and abilities hit the streets of Guangzhou competing in full marathon, half marathon and mini marathon races.Recognized as a Chinese Athletic Association (CAA) Gold Medal Race and an IAAF Road Race Bronze Label event, this year's Guangzhou Marathon fully embodies the concept of “hosting sport events for the well-being of citizens.”

The athletes will have a great opportunity to savour the unique charm of the 2000-year-old city of Guangzhou, nicknamed “City of Rams”, and the rich Lingnan culture permeating the whole city, while running along a spectacularly scenic course set alongside the Pearl River.The course will take the runners to vibrant Zhujiang New Town, grand Pazhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre, slim and graceful Canton Tower, a quaint campus of Sun Yat-sen University and many more.Each runner will have his or her name printed on the race bib, while having access to fully-staffed aid stations and water stations set up along the course.All participating runners who cross the fi nish line will receive a participation cert ifi cate after the validation of the of fi cial race results.No one can fi nish a marathon race in the absence of a strong push, both internal and external.That is why the runners will fi nd themselves cheered by stimulating tunes and thousands of spectators lining the course on the race day.

The races aside, the athletes will also have the privilege to take part in sightseeing trips and dig into diverse aspects of Guangzhou through 45 tour routes (planned around 15 themes) launched by the local tourism authority.
