M: Excuse me, madam. Is this Lost and Found Department?
W: Yes. What’s wrong with you, sir?
M: I’ve lost my bag in the waiting room. Could you help me to find it?
W: Of course, sir. Could you tell me what it looks like?
M: Let me see. It’s a middle-sized leather bag. And it’s black.
W: Oh, yes. What’s your name then?
M: Bob Green. B-O-B, Bob; G-R-E-E-N, Green.
W: All right. Do you have anything important in it?
M: Oh, yes, of course. A nice wallet and some name cards, and I put a new book in it. It’s the present for my daughter’s birthday.

M: OK. Thanks.

M: Hello, Sarah!
W: Hi, Mike!
M: We have the summer holiday next month. Where are you going?
W: I’m going to Hainan.
M: Oh, Hainan is a great place of interest. Have you ever been there before?
W: No, never. I hear it’s very hot there in summer.
M: Yes, it is. How will you go there?
W: By plane.
M: I think it’s better to go there by ship.
W: Maybe next time. I’ve booked the air tickets.
M: When are you leaving?
W: On the fifth of next month.
M: I’m sure you will enjoy yourself there.
W: I hope so. What about you, Mike?
M: I’m going to Dalian with my parents.
W: Sounds great! Have a good time!
M: Thanks.
Text 9
W: Hi, Joe, many people in our department are leaving for Thanksgiving. What are you going to do?
M: I think I’ll just stay at home. I may see some friends and watch a few DVDs. And I probably would go to the Ottawa Car Show. What about you, Alice? What’s your plan?
W: I am going to do some traveling with my family.
M: Oh, where?
W: Toronto.
M: That’s exciting. How long do you plan to stay?
W: Two days. I have a get-together party with my college friends there. Oh, I’m afraid I’ve got to go now. My husband is waiting for me. And we’ll have to pick up Daniel from school. Have a nice holiday Joe!
M: Thank you. You too.
Text 10
Hello everybody. I am Brian Smith, a writer in this country. Here I’m going to share my writing experiences with you.
I watch people a lot. I do that when I travel. I’ve been to many countries. So I spend a lot of time at airports. While waiting for my flights, I watch people passing by and start my imagination. For example, when I was waiting for my flight to Greece, I saw a couple. They were buying magazines at that moment. Every few seconds, the woman looked around. I wondered if someone was following them. Perhaps they were running away and you know this reminded me of a story in the newspaper that day: a bank clerk stole one million pounds a week before and disappeared with his wife. There was a picture of them in the paper. Maybe I should stop them. Just then, I saw them say goodbye to each other, and the woman walked away. Well, sometimes I make mistakes like that. But I find things like that very useful for my writing.
