我们知道，在英语中句子根据使用目的可以分为四种：陈述句、疑问句、祈使句和感叹句。其中疑问句包括一般疑问句、特殊疑问句、选择疑问句和附加疑问句。今天我要带领大家认识的是特殊疑问句。

一、特殊疑问句的定义

以特殊疑问词开头的疑问句称为特殊疑问句。它是针对句中某一成分来提出问题，表示疑问意义的句子形式。而一般疑问句则常常以b (amisare...)动词、助动词(dodoeswill...)或情态动词等开头。特殊疑问句既可以使用完整的答语，也可以只回答提问部分。它不能用yes或no来回答而一般疑问句则用yes或no来回答。这是二者的区别之一。如：

—What’s that in English?—It’s a jacket.

—How many birds can you see in the picture?—Eight.

—Does he like apples?—Yes,he does.No,he doesn’t.

—Can you speak English?—Yes,I can.No,I can’t.

二、特殊疑问句的疑问词

特殊疑问词分为两种：疑问代词what,who,whom,whose,which和疑问副词when,where,why,how。这里我们重点介绍疑问代词what和who的用法。

1.what

（1）what意为“什么”，指事物，在句中一般作主语、宾语、表语和定语。如

What happened next?（作主语）后来发生了什么？

What do you want?（作宾语）你想要什么？

What is her name?（作表语）她叫什么名字？

What time is it?（作定语）几点了？

（2）以what开头的特殊疑问句常常可以用来询问姓名、事物名称、颜色、职业、时间、日期、星期、数目等。如：

What’s that over there?那边那是什么？

What colour is the pencil?这只铅笔是什么颜色？

What’syour aunt’sjob?(=What’syour aunt?=What doesyour aunt do?）你的阿姨做什么工作？

What time is it now?(=What’s the time now?）现在几点了？

What’s the date?今天几号？

What day is it today?今天星期几？

What’s one and two?1加2是多少？

2.who

who意为“谁”，指人。它在句中作主语和表语，其宾格形式是whom，在句中作宾语。who主要是对人进行提问。如：

Who（作主语）is in your classroom?谁在你们的教室？

Who（作表语）are you?你是谁？

Whom（作宾语）/Who did you give the letter to?你把信交给了谁？

(注：口语中常用who代替whom。)

三、特殊疑问句的语序

1.当疑问代词或由其所修饰的词在句中作主语时，用陈述句语序（即主语+谓语+其他成分）。如：

Who(作主语）likes singing English songs?谁喜欢唱英语歌曲？

What(作主语)made you think so?什么使你这样想的？

Which teacher(作主语)is the best in your school?你们学校哪个老师最优秀？

Whose pen（作主语）is on the desk?谁的钢笔在课桌上？

2.当疑问代词、疑问副词或由其所修饰的词在句中不作主语时，其句子结构是疑问词+一般疑问句语序。如：

—Which season do you like best?你最喜欢哪个季节？

—I like spring best.我最喜欢春天。

—What will you do for your mum on Mother’s Day?母亲节你将为你的妈妈做什么？

—I will cook noodles for her.我将为她煮面条。

—Why do you like summer?你为什么喜欢夏天？

—Because I like summer vacation.因为我喜欢暑假。

—Where are my new trousers?我的新裤子在哪儿？

—They’re on the sofa.它们在沙发上。

四、特殊疑问句的语调

在英语中，陈述句、特殊疑问句的语调一般用降调，而一般疑问句则用升调。如：

What’s your↓name?My name is↓Mike.

Is this your↑ruler?↓Yes,it↓is.
