this thesis will have a deeper investigation on the changing and cognitive process of home culture awareness reflected in Chinese modern literary predecessors' based on the relationship between home and country.

一、Introduction

Chinese modern literary works are valuable spiritual heritage. The deep concern they show to home and country embody their strong home culture awareness.

二、Definition of Home Culture Awareness and Its Embodiment in Works

1.The Definition of Home Culture Awareness

China has a long history which stresses the unity of home and country. Home is the cell of country and country is the organic whole of home.

2.Home Culture Awareness Embodied in Works

As is known to all, Ba Jin’s work Jia (Home) harshly criticized the old house, that is the old and feudal system of the feudalist society, which highly promotes the modern process of social awareness in China. However, his attitudes towards home in real life and in his literary writing have totally changed. At the very beginning, Ba Jin detests, hates, rebels and lashes. But gradually, his attitudes transform from the above feelings to introspection, nostalgia, attachment and praise. As a matter of fact, this transformation can be understood as the change of life. However, he still possesses the infinite desire for creating a new home with a definitely new culture, new existence, new country and a new life.

Compared with Ba Jin, Lu Xun is more able to expose the feudalist social orders. He persists to explore the heading direction of our new home and our new country. Lu Xun has a deeper insight.

三、Deep Concern for Home and Country and Cultural Reflection

1.Deep Concern for Home and Country

Chinese modern literary predecessors reveal their deep concern for home and country from the perspective of the traditional family structure and deconstruction. They incline to expose family autocracy thoroughly and specifically. The predecessors concentrate on writing the tyranny, injustice, blindness and cruelty of the feudal family system, but at the same time, they are paying a tribute to the awakening and revolt of the young generation in the feudal family. In predecessors’ works, they hate the feudal system but they are filled with passion for Democratic Movement.

2.Cultural Reflection

Actually, the predecessors are fond of describing the family concepts, family ethics and family members’relationship. All what the predecessors are reflecting is the contradictory conflicts happening in individualism and humanism, idealism, society, country and nation so as to satire the real society, examine ethics and explore the essence of happiness.

四、The Transformative Cognition of Home and Country

1.The Transformative Cognition of Home

Among Chinese modern literary predecessors, the majority of them are brought up in a very big feudalist family. They witnessed the strict hierarchical system, the cruel oppression and the decadent life and spirit. As the society moves forward, especially when the May 4th Movement took place, Chinese modern literary predecessors opened their eyes and had the opportunity to contact advanced culture. From that time on, these writers have a clearer and more thorough cognition on the nature of the old home.

2.The Transformative Cognition of Country

On the whole, in the medium term of the 20th century, the situation of country is the same as that of home. However, after Chinese liberation, literary career is closely related to national interests. They feel that now, country is fair, incorruptible and bright.

五、Conclusion

In the point view of Chinese modern literary predecessors, the true essence of home culture awareness seems to be the core for family ethics and country issues. And the updating home culture awareness is initiated by the changing social, historical, cultural changes and family living modes.
