试以古体诗形式翻译歌词

诗与歌，从来都是关系紧密，不可分割。《诗·大序》曰：“诗者，志之所之也。在心为志，发言为诗，情动于中而形于言。言之不足，故嗟叹之。嗟叹之不足，故咏歌之。咏歌之不足，不知手之舞之足之蹈之也。”从《诗经》到唐诗宋词元曲，或诗为曲而作，或曲中有诗歌。

今天的流行歌曲，也常常会直接采用或间接借鉴诗歌来作为歌词，如邓丽君的《虞美人》、毛宁的《涛声依旧》等即是如此。而当代英文歌曲也不乏歌词优美、极具诗歌韵味的例子。爱尔兰著名乐队Westlife 的《Seasons in the Sun》就是这样一首歌。这首歌最初版本是法国歌手Jaques Brel发表于1961年的《Le moribond》（将死之人）。这首歌曲旋律轻快，但基调悲伤，歌词内容让人伤感。其歌词经历了多次再创造的不断的改编，行成了现今的英文版。

笔者很喜欢Westlife的作品，同时也热爱中国诗歌。一次听罢《Seasons in the Sun》，深受触动，于是将其歌词试译为五言古体诗。译作五言诗顾及了歌词“诗”的属性，但很大程度上丢掉了其“歌”的属性。作为一次尝试性的翻译，希望可以借此拓宽我们翻译材料的来源，也希望能引起更多译者对歌词翻译的兴趣。
