On December 26, 2012, as forklifts shipped the 10000th tonne of nickel plate into the finished product warehouse of Xinjiang Nonferrous Group Fukang Smelting Plant, Xinjiang’s annual production of electrolytic nickel for the first time topped 10,000 tonnes. This also laid down solid foundation for Xinjiang to fulfill the annual output of 20,000 tonnes of nickel, and 20,000 tonnes of copper in the near future, and further reach 50,000 tonnes of nickel capacity at the end of the “Twelfth Five Year Plan”to become the second largest electrolytic nickel

production base in China.

It has been learned that Xinjiang Nonferrous Group Fukang Smelting Factory’s electrolytic nickel project was completed and launched into production in 1993, which filled a void in Xinjiang’s electrolytic nickel production. As the capacity continued to expand and technologies made continual progress, Fukang Smelting Factory kicked off 10,000 tonnes nickel technology upgrading project in 2006, aiming to continually improve grade rate through technology innovation and energy saving upgrading.

It has been learned that Fukang Nonferrous Industrial Park, where the 10,000 tonnes nickel project is located, followed the requirements of“high starting point, high benefits, high standard”, adhered to the road of high-end development, green development, and innovation development, in the future it will strive to build itself into Xinjiang non-ferrous metal industry new material refined smelting model base, and the second largest electrolytic nickel production base in China.
