2013-01-31
Not only is it a new day but it is most definitely a new year! So, readers, without further ado, Happy New Year or 新年好!
Whenever something new occurs it usually means something has changed, or is about to. This edition will revolve around the theme of change; the change in peoples lives and what kind of effects theyve had. As 2013 kicks off we must remember that change can come from anywhere at anytime—we cant always control or anticipate it.
The three feature articles contained in this edition of Crazy English Reader will demonstrate how new developments can create an entirely new person.
First up, is a topic that in the future will no doubt grace myself! Michael Childers talks of his experience of gaining a new addition to the family, in Fatherhood. Michael shows us that even just the smallest of events during childhood can have an impact that will last a lifetime.
From Fatherhood to a yoga teacher in Feeling Stuck? Trying a Beginners Mind, where Will Donnelly suggests we change our perspective if we want to change ourselves. As a dedicated yoga instructor Will was looking for a way to become a better teacher, not just for his students but for himself. If we are bending over backwards trying to move forward, sometimes its better to look behind us.
And so, like a snake that has shed its skin to begin a new life, the cycle of change is completed with John Updikes Olivers Evolution. In this story of mental and physical change, we understand how—like a butterfly breaking out of a chrysalis—we each have the ability to change into something beautiful.
Once again, my dear readers, Happy New Year!
