2012-08-15
December 12- at the recent China Aluminum Industrial Economy Forum, industry analysts indicated that, China transport industry aluminum consumption will enjoy a favorable prospect during the 12th Five-Year Plan period. In 2010, China’s transport sector demanded for 3,480,000 tons of aluminum, accounting for 17%-18% of the total aluminum consumption in China, ranking only after the construction industry. Compared with that of developed countries, demand for aluminum of transport sector has relatively low market share. For example, Japanese demand for aluminum of the transport sector accounts for 42% of the total consumption of aluminum, 29% higher than that of the construction sector, which ranks the second. It is estimated that the annual compound annual growth rate of the demand for aluminum of Chinese transport sector will reach 10% between 2011 and 2015, with automobile, motorcycle and bicycle remaining the 3 major aluminum consumers of the transport sector, and the market share of aluminum demand of automobile industry will exceed 70%.In addition, the Chinese market of aluminum plates and strips for aerospace is gathering more momentum. Currently, China’s medium and thick plates for aerospace are mainly imported from other countries. However, as many domestic medium and thick hot-rolled plant projects go into operation, China’s thick plates for aerospace will be supplied domestically. It is estimated that the consumption of China’s thick aluminum plates for aerospace will reach 168,000 tons by 2013.
