An Empty Box Full of Kisses装满吻的空盒子

Once upon a time， a man punished（惩罚） his 5-year-old daughter for using up the family’s only roll of expensive gold wrapping paper（包装纸）. Money was tight（拮据的）， and he became even more upset on Christmas Eve when he saw that the child had pasted（粘贴） the gold paper so as to decorate a shoebox to put under the Christmas tree.

从前，一个人惩罚了他5岁的女儿，因为她把家里仅剩的一卷贵重的金色包装纸用了。当时家里经济拮据，在圣诞节前夜，这位父亲看见他女儿把那些金纸贴在一个鞋盒上放在圣诞树下，这使得他更加沮丧。

Nevertheless（然而）， the next morning the little girl， filled with excitement， brought the gift box to her father and said， “This is for you， Daddy！” As he opened the box， the father was embarrassed （尴尬的） at his earlier overreaction （过度反应）. But when he opened it， he found it was empty and again his anger flared（燃烧）. “Don’t you know， young lady？” he said harshly （严厉地）， “when you give someone a present， there’s supposed to be something inside the package！”

然而，第二天早上，小女孩满心欢喜地把礼物盒拿给爸爸，并说道：“爸爸，这是给你的礼物！”父亲开启着盒子，并为自己曾经的过激感到羞愧。但当他打开盒子的时候，他发现里面是空的，他的愤怒又一次燃烧起来。“难道你不知道吗，小姐？”他严厉地说，“当你送给别人一份礼物的时候，包装里面应该要放东西的！”

The little girl looked up at him with tears rolling from her eyes and said：“Daddy， it’s not empty. I blew kisses into it until it was all full.” The father was crushed. He fell on his knees and put his arms around his precious little girl. He begged her to forgive him for his unnecessary anger.

小女孩抬头看着他，泪水从她眼睛里滚落下来，她说：“爸爸，盒子不是空的。我放了好多吻在里面一直到它盛满。”父亲怔住了，心都要碎了，他跪下来，用双臂揽着他的宝贝女儿，乞求她原谅他那些不必要的愤怒。

An accident took the life of the child only a short time later. It is told that the father kept that little gold box by his bed for all the years of his life. Whenever he was discouraged（灰心的） or faced difficult problems， he would open the box， take out an imaginary （想象中的） kiss， and remember the love of his beautiful child.

没过多长时间，一场车祸夺去了这个小女孩的生命。据说那位父亲一生都把那个金色的小盒子放在自己的床边。当他感觉灰心或是面对棘手的问题时，他就会打开这个盒子，取出一个想象中的吻，记起他美丽的小女儿放在那里的爱。
