Luban(507 BC-444 BC),surnamed Gongshu,given named Ban,was a person of the State of Lu.He was an outstanding ancient inventor.鲁班（公元前507年至公元前444年），姓公输，名班，鲁国人，是我国古代出色的发明家。

Luban learned civil and architectural engineering with his family at a young age.He gradually acquired the skill of productive labor and accumulated much practical experience.The name of Luban and his stories spread widely among the public.And construction craftsmen all respectfully call him Patriarch.鲁班从小就跟随家里人学习了土木建筑的知识，逐渐掌握了生产劳动的技能，积累了丰富的实践经验。鲁班的名字和他的故事一直流传于民间。我国土木工匠们都尊称他为祖师。

At the turn from the Spring and Autumn Period to the Warring States Period,craftsmen got many opportunities to practice their talents due to social changes.Against this background,Luban initiated many inventions in machinery,construction,and artisan craftsmanship.It is said that saw,drill,plane,shovel,and ink marker are all invented by Luban.春秋战国之交，社会动荡使工匠获得了施展才能的机会。在这一背景下，鲁班在机械、土木、手工工艺等方面都有所发明。据传说，锯、钻、刨子及曲尺，划线用的墨斗，都是鲁班发明的。
