On September 16, the 6,000,000-ton mining project of Hudehe Copper Mine kicked off, which is the largest copper mine in Xinjiang.
Jointly developed by Xinjiang Nonferrous Metals Group and Gansu Jianxin Group, Hudehe Copper Mine is located at Tuoli County,Tacheng Prefecture, Xinjiang. It is a large-scale porphyry-type copper deposit with proven copper reserve of 362,500 tons and prospective reserve of 1,000,000 tons(metal content). According to the preliminary plan, it will be built into a mine with mining and dressing capacity of 6,000,000 tons/year. With a total investment of RMB 1.466 billion, the project is expected to achieve annual sales revenue of RMB 0.8 billion and provide jobs for nearly 1,000 people.
Yuanze, Secretary of CPC Committee and President of Xinjiang Nonferrous Metals Group noted in his speech that, as a “big but poor”porphyry-type copper mine, Hudehe Copper Mine is very hard to be exploited due the minimum average milling grade of ores. He stated that the group would build Hudehe Copper Mine into a green mine with beautiful environment, advanced technologies, optimized process and excellent ecological conditions in accordance with relevant requirements, and set up a model for exploitation of low-grade ore and comprehensive utilization of resource in Xinjiang, even across the whole country.
