Its Empty

Little Jane went home with a stomachache.

“Come on, eat some food,” Mum said. “Your stomach is hurting because its empty. Itll be all right if you have something in it.”

An hour later, Dad came home with a headache. “Thats because its empty,” said little Jane. “Youd be all right if you had something in it.”

小珍妮忍着胃痛回到家。

“来吧,吃些东西。”妈妈说,“你胃痛是因为胃里空了,吃些东西就会好的。”

一小时后,爸爸忍着头痛回到家。“那是因为你脑袋里是空的,”小珍妮说,“如果你在里面放些东西就会好的。”

The Best Chess Player

One Sunday, Mary went to visit her friend Tom. She was surprised to find him playing chess with his pet dog.

Mary watched the game for a while and said,“I can hardly believe my eyes! Thats the cleverest dog Ive ever seen.”

“Ah, its not so clever,” Tom said.“ Ive beaten him three games out of five.”

最优秀的棋手

一个星期天,玛丽去拜访朋友汤姆。令她惊奇的是汤姆正在和他的宠物狗下棋。

玛丽看了一会儿棋局,惊讶道:“我简直不敢相信自己的眼睛!它是我见过的最聪明的狗。”
