The first International Sand Sculpting Festival， held in 1974， showcased thecreativity of sand sculptors. It solidified9 “playing in the sand”as a pastime and aform of artistic expression.

The world’s tallest freestanding sandcastle， built in Germany in 2019， stoodalmost 17.65 meters. That’s as tall as a four or five-story tall building.
