Travel to Pingtan平潭游记

Pingtan is in Fujian Province. It was called “Haitan” in old times. It has a long history of 7，000 years. It is the nearest place to our Taiwan Province.

平潭县位于福建省东部，古称“海坛”。平潭是祖国大陆距离台湾岛最近的地方。

海上平潭岛

Look at the sea from Pingtan Island， the water is sparkling in the sun. The white waves are beating against the rocks on the shore. What a beautiful picture！

在平潭岛上望向大海，海面波光粼粼，白浪拍打着岸上的礁石。这是多么美丽的一幅画啊！

Pingtan Island is also called “Qilin Island”. Because it looks like Qi Lin， a mythical beast in Chinese myth.

平潭岛也叫“麒麟岛”，因为它形似中国上古神话传说中的神兽麒麟。

各色海鲜

There are many kinds of seafood here： The fish balls tastes smooth and crispy. The crab meat is excellent. The paella tastes perfectly. I can’t even stop eating them.

这里盛产各种海鲜：鱼丸爽滑脆嫩，营养丰富；螃蟹肉质肥美；海鲜饭色香味俱全，好吃到让人根本停不下来！

会唱歌的石头

There is a kind of “Singing Stones” in Pingtan. Hit the different stones with a stick. They will make different notes， just like they are singing. It’s amazing， isn’t it？

平潭还有一种“会唱歌的石头”。你用棍子敲击不同的石头，它们就会发出不同的声调，就好像在唱歌一样。是不是很神奇？

Nora： Of course. These magic stones are from the Junshan mountain in Pingtan.

Mrs Yao： Why can they make different notes？

Nora： These stones were formed by the crustal movement. They have different ingredients. So they can make different notes.

Mrs Yao： That’s great. I want to go and try it too.
