“China Day” event held at World Esperanto Congress in Italy

On July 31st, as part of the 108th World Esperanto Congress taking place in Turin, Italy, the Chinese delegation organized a “China Day” themed event on July 30th.

The themed event featured three exhibitions: “China and the World -- The 10th Anniversary Achievements of the Belt and Road Initiative,” “Colorful Chinese Nation -- National Cultural Heritage Photography Exhibition,” and “Path of Characters -- Modern Design of Chinese Characters.” Additionally, a series of promotional activities introducing Chinas contribution to the global Esperanto movement were held.

Duncan Charters, president of the Universal Esperanto Association (UEA), noted in his speech that the ?ina Esperanto-Ligo (?EL) has been actively engaged in cross-cultural exchanges through Esperanto for many years, making these efforts indispensable to the UEA.

Liu Kan, consul general of China in Milan, expressed in a congratulatory letter that the “China Day” event provided a window for congress attendees and the Italian public to gain a better understanding of China. He hoped that participants would make greater contributions to the shared global endeavor of respecting cultural diversity and promoting mutual understanding and trust among civilizations.

This event was guided by the UEA and China International Communications Group (CICG), and organized by ?EL, CICG Asia-Pacific, and Foreign Languages Press. More than 80 representatives from the Chinese Esperanto delegation and various countries attended the event.

The World Esperanto Congress has its origins in 1905. This years congress was held from July 29th to August 5th in Turin.
