CNIE Holds Seminar on “Advancing the International NGOs Network for Poverty Reduction Cooperation with the Focus on the Implementation of the Global Development Initiative”

Aimed at pooling the international civil society strength on the solid implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) as well as facilitating the understanding of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress by the international civil society, China NGO Network for International Exchanges (CNIE) hosted an online seminar on November 30 themed "Advancing the International NGOs Network for Poverty Reduction Cooperation with the Focus on the Implementation of Global Development Initiative" for member organisations of the International NGOs Network for Poverty Reduction Cooperation as well as its overseas partner organisations. Mr. Dou Enyong,former Assistant Minister of IDCPC and Vice-President of CNIE, delivered a speech elaborating the essence of the 20th National Congress of the CPC.Mr. Li Xiangyu, Head of the Department of General Affairs, Global Development Promotion Centre of China International Development Cooperation Agency made an in-depth interpretation of the major significance of the GDI. The representatives of the Amity Foundation, the Alibaba Foundation, Shenzhen Mindray Bio-medical Electronics, Shandong Nongovernment Foreign Exchange Cooperation, the Institute for Peace and Diplomatic Studies of Pakistan,the Arab-Chinese Cooperation & Development Association of Lebanon, Malaysia Organisation for International Exchanges, the International Foundation for Nature Care of Nepal, among other Chinese and overseas NGOs delivered speeches respectively.Nearly a hundred delegates from over 30 countries attended the seminar.

The delegates extended warm congratulations to the successful convening of the CPC’s 20th National Congress and Xi Jinping’s election as the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee. They spoke highly of the great significance of the GDI proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping as well as China’s leading role in safeguarding world peace and promoting shared development. They expressed anticipation to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and cooperation and enhance mutual understanding and amity among peoples of different countries, so as to contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

As an achievement of the High-level Dialogue on Global Development, the International NGOs Network for Poverty Reduction Cooperation was officially established at the International Civil Society Solidarity Conference on the Global Development Initiative on August 12, 2022 jointly by 32 organisations from 17 countries and regions.
