Unit 1

1. adapt to 适应

Some businessmen cannot adapt to change because they have tunnel vision. 有些生意人因为见识短浅，不能顺应局势的变化。

2. used to do 过去常常

3. at least 至少

Unit 2

I didnt want to leave him alone. 我不想不管他。

9. search for 寻找

11. turn around 转向

Unit 3

1. ahead of （表示空间）在……前面;（表示时间）先，预先，比……提前，比…… 更早

Unit 4

1. hear from 接到……的信

10. dry up （指河流，井等）干涸

Ice will melt into liquid and dry up.  冰会融化成液体，蒸发掉。

11. get through 穿过;越过

Youll have to break the branches away to get through the thick forest. 你得把树枝拨开才能穿过密林。

Unit 5

1. adjust to 适应;调节

It takes time to adjust to a new zone when you travel.  在旅行中，调整自己适应不同的时区是要花些时间的。

2. fit in 相适应;相融合

She didnt fit in and she had few social graces. 她不适合这种场合，她对社交礼仪知之甚少。

3. as far as one is concerned 就……而言

As far as Im concerned， the best color is red. 对我来说，红色是最好的颜色。

8. get lost 迷路

Stick close to me and you wont get lost. 紧跟着我你就迷不了路。

9. be abundant in sth. ……丰富的

Bauxite resource is abundant in Guizhou province. 贵州省盛产铝土矿资源。

10. apologize to sb. for sth. 为某事向某人道歉

I appologize to my teacher for my late for school. 我因为迟到向老师道歉。

11. keep ones word  信守诺言

Keep your words as I keep mine. 遵守你的诺言，就象我遵守我的诺言。

12. substitute A for B 用A代替B

We substituted red balls for blue balls. 我们用红球替代蓝球。

13. substitute A with B 用B代替A

We must substituted speculative theories with experiment and observation. 我们应该用实验和观察代替纯理论。
