When I walked to room G7 for the first time on August 14, 2018, I wasnt sure what to expect. It would be my final year at high school, and I was anxious about meeting a teacher for my International Relations course. As I approached G7s doorway, I was greeted by Mr Valentine and I soon realized he was one of the most important people to ever enter my life.

Mr Valentine showed excitement and passion as he taught, running across his classroom and engaging his students in academic discussions. His clear love of teaching was what I had never experienced before. For the first time in years, I felt at home, and I truly wanted to learn.

It isnt merely his teaching style, however, that has made Mr Valentine one of my largest inspirations and personal role models. I will never forget the day when I asked him what he would want to do if he werent a teacher. Without skipping a beat, he told me that he would wish to continue working for the government so that he would still be able to help others. That conversation alone convinced me that I had met one of the kindest humans in this world, simply because Mr Valentine is dedicated purely to helping and bettering the life of others.

On a personal level, Mr Valentine has been very influential for me. He provides me with a supportive, caring environment when I lack one. Even more importantly, he makes me want to do great, fantastic things. As I approach my first year of college, I only hope that Mr Valentine will remain in my life as my mentor.

Responsibility is an admirable character that makes life better for everyone around you. It isnt only about doing your homework or feeding the dog.   1   Showing responsibility isnt always easy, but practicing and making an effort will help you improve over time.

Think of the consequences before speaking or acting. Bad decisions often lead to a lot of new problems. Many times, you can avoid these problems by thinking about what youre about to do before you go through with it. Irresponsible people often make decisions without realizing how they are affecting others.   2

Pause and reflect on your actions to see what you can do better. Take a time out to look back on what you have said or done, especially after a difficult decision.   3   Consider what goes right, what goes wrong, and what you can do differently next time. Use what you learn to become wiser and more responsible.

4   If youre honest, people will believe you are a responsible person. Try to be as honest as possible. Lying leads to deeper holes in the long run, so admit when you do something wrong. This can be very tough at times, but its something you can handle when youre a responsible person.

Apologize for any mistake you make. No one is perfect, and no matter how responsible you try to be, you might mess up sometimes.

They are my family here. They are all I have.” The boy then felt sorry for the man, as it seemed that he was a very lonely soul. “Well, I do have a magazine here for collectors. It is perfect for you. I also have one about dogs since you like dogs so much.” The old man was ready to close the door on the boy and said, “No boy, I dont need any magazines of any kind, now goodbye.”

The little boy was sad that he was not going to make his quota with the sale. He was also sad for the old man being so alone in the big house that he owned. The boy went home and then had an idea. He had a little dog figurine that he got some years ago from an aunt. The figurine did not mean nearly as much to him since he had a real live dog and a large family.
