[Abstract] Objective To explore the value of screening and prevention of group B streptococcal infection during perinatal period in primary hospitals. Methods Based on the retrospective analysis method, 4220 perinatal pregnant women who were admitted to our hospital from July 2019 to July 2020 were selected as experimental subjects. The complete information was collected. They were given screening for group B streptococcal infection of vagina and rectum in our hospital. Based on the results of screening for Streptococcus infection, 507 positive cases were selected as the positive group, and the other 3713 negative cases were selected as the negative group. The value of screening and prevention of group B streptococcus infection during perinatal period in primary hospitals was analyzed. Results All experimental subjects in our hospital were screened for group B streptococcus infection. As a result, 507 cases were found to be positive, with a positive rate of 12.01%; there were 3713 negative cases, with the negative rate of 87.99%. There were no statistically significant difference in terms of Cesarean section, postpartum hemorrhage, puerperal infection, neonatal asphyxia, and fetal distress (P>0.05). However, the incidence rate of chorioamnionitis, amniotic fluid contamination, premature rupture of membranes, and neonatal infection in the positive group were higher than those in the negative group(P<0.05). Conclusion The implementation of screening of group B streptococcal infection during perinatal period in primary hospitals is of great significance and the medical community should pay close attention to it. After screening, effective intervention should be given as soon as possible to avoid adverse pregnancy outcomes and ensure the safety of mothers and infants.
