New Lighthouse
An aerial photo taken on June 19 shows the Chidingyu Lighthouse in Quanzhou, Fujian Province. The lighthouse located at the key turning point of the inner route on the west side of the Taiwan Straits, officially went into operation on June 19. Powered by green energy, it covers a light range of more than 15 nautical miles. The lighthouse is equipped with modern navigation devices which meet the needs of different kinds of ships in and out of the Quanzhou Bay.
Farm Insurance
A State Council executive meeting on June 18 decided to provide wider farm insurance to help farmers better withstand risks and stabilize their income from grain production.
According to the meeting, 500 counties across 13 major grain production provinces would have insurance for the planting of rice and wheat. It will cover the costs for seeds, fertilizers and pesticides. It will also cover land and labor costs and losses from natural disasters, plant diseases, and insect pests. The insurance for those planting corn will cover any losses due to price and output fluctuations.
The meeting decided to provide a one-time subsidy to farmers growing major grains to cushion them from the sharp increases in farming supply prices and stabilize their income. The total subsidy amount will be around 20 billion yuan ($3.11 billion).
Sportswear Research
Chinas largest sportswear company Anta co-established the Tsinghua University-ANTA Group Joint Research Center for Sports Fashion with Tsinghua University on June 21, voicing its aim of building a world-leading innovation platform for the industry.
Anta, the worlds third largest sportswear company by revenue, will cooperate with the renowned university over the next five years to promote the innovative application of new materials, new fabrics and new designs in the field of sportswear through the integration of technological research and market transformation.
