On May 19， the China National Space Administration released two photos and two videos taken by Chinas first Mars probe. China is now the second nation after the U.S. to have a rover on the surface of the planet.

Red Tourism Expo

Jiangxi and Hunan provinces will jointly hold a red tourism expo in October to display the latest developments in the industry.

The expo will be held in Jinggangshan in Jiangxi， which borders Hunan， Liu Qi， secretary of the Communist Party of China （CPC） Jiangxi Provincial Committee， said at a press conference on May 14.

Red tourism， which refers to visiting historical sites with a modern revolutionary legacy， has gained popularity among tourists in recent years. It has been particularly brisk this year， which marks the 100th anniversary of the CPC.

Jiangxi will use its abundant red tourism resources to promote high-quality development of the sector， Liu said.

During this years week-long May Day holiday， the number of visits to such tourist attractions in Jiangxi increased threefold year on year， Liu said. The province has plans to improve and upgrade its red tourism services.

In 2017， 24 provincial-level regions including Jiangxi， Beijing， Shanghai， Guizhou and Shaanxi formed a red tourism promotion alliance to enhance the service quality of the industry and strengthen regional cooperation.

New Route

A direct China-Europe freighttrain rail route has been launched， linking the city of Liuzhou in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Russian capital of Moscow.

The maiden train departed on May 18 from Liuzhou for Moscow. It is scheduled to arrive in Moscow in 20 days after traveling about 11，000 km， according to Luo Guobing， Vice President of Liugong Machinery Co. Ltd.， a Liuzhou-headquartered machinery manufacturer.

The route is the first ChinaEurope freight-train service connecting Guangxi directly with Europe. The route will operate once or twice every month， according to the China Railway Nanning Group.
