Foreword

It was our great privilege to host the Tenth International Symposium on Radiation Safety and Detection Technology (ISORD-10) in Taiyuan,Shanxi,China,on July 16-19,2019.On behalf of China Institute for Radiation Protection (CIRP),the local host,I would like to avail myself of this opportunity to extend sincere gratitude to sponsors of the symposium,Tohoku University of Japan and Hanyang University of Korea,and the supporting organizations including China Society of Radiation Protection,China Institute of Atomic Energy and Tsinghua University.

This year,the world encountered the sudden Covid-19 epidemic,and all countries were faced with huge challenges.Here I would like to express my heartfelt greetings to all the friends who participated in ISORD-10,wishing you all the best of health.Undoubtedly,the success of this symposium is inseparable from the positive support of every professional,student and exhibitor in the field of radiation safety and detection from home and abroad.

After six years waiting,the ISORD came to China once again in 2019,with special memorable significance as it’s the tenth convening.We gathered in Taiyuan to commemorate the history of ISORDs,and discussed some common topics in the field of radiation safety and detection.Through the exchange during this symposium,the inspiration of scientific researchers has been released and the creativity has been kindled.To my pleasure,ISORD has become an increasingly influential symposium,far beyond the three founding countries,South Korea,Japan,and China.The ISORD-10 embraced about 340 participants from as many as 12 countries.

We have made some new breakthroughs in this symposium,paying more attention to fostering young scientists.We tried Student Competition and Young Scientists Forum for the first time to encourage more youngsters to be devoted to the cause of radiation protection.We are very much pleased that we have received 277 abstracts and 110 full papers in total for this symposium,including 111 oral presentations and 120 posters,which mark a significant increase from the previous meeting.Based on that,34 full papers are selected to be published in the journalRadiationProtection.

I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation for your interest in ISORD-10,and hope ISORD will become ever more flourishing and rewarding.
