My Winter Holiday

During the winter holiday， I was very happy because of the Chinese new year and other reasons. During the holiday， my parents and I went back to my hometown in the countryside in Hebei Province. I had not come back for several years， so that I was so surprised to find that great changes had taken place in this small village in the past years. Almost every family in the village had color TV set and some of them had computers. Many families had their houses newly built or rebuilt. Previously， could be seen everywhere， but now they have taken on an entirely newlook. Motorcycles or even private cars are not luxuries any more.

The Development of City

Now， the degree of urbanization has been deepening and we enjoy the convenience brought by urbanization. How does everybody know how the cities began？ Long time ago， the world had only a few thousand people. These people moved from place to place， hunting animals for food. No one knows how or when these people learned about growing food. But when they did， their lives changed greatly. One thing is certain that they gathered in the rich place or near water. In that age， water and climate are the most important to lives. It is the rich water and comfortable climate that gathered people from different places. They began to live near one another， so that the first village grew. Many people came to work in the villages. Then the villages became bigger and bigger.When machines were invented， life in the villages changed again. Factories were built. There were a growing number of people living near factories. Because of the increasing people， more and more buildings were built. And then cities were built.

Smile

People always say that smile is the most beautiful person card. I strongly agree with them. Smile likes the sunshine that can bring warmthto people and make people happy. When you are happy， you will smile subconsciously， because a good mood brings smile to your face. But， you also should smile when you are upset， because smile might bring you confidence， courage so that cheer yourself up.

Smiling showsgood mood and positive attitude to life， so that those people who always smile can attract the others easily， because people like to build relationship with smiling ones. Moreover， smiling shows sincere and confidence. No matter to yourself or others， they both important. Besides， when you smile to the world， the world is smiling at you. Therefore， keep smiling and show you best to the world.

Do Something for Protecting Our Environment

Everyone can do something for our environment. What Can I Do for Our Environment？

Everyone can do something for our environment. As a student， we should build the sense of frugality in our daily life in the school. I always turn off the lights in the classroom when I leave. Both sides of the paper can be used if it is possible. After school， I bear the consciousness of environment protection in mind. In order to protect the forest I often refuse to use the paper cups and disposable chopsticks consciously. I believe that individual contribution to the environment will build a more beautiful world.

Approaches to Improve Listening Ability

As an English learner， the comprehensive abilities is important. Therefore， we should pay attention to improve these abilities to make English well. The comprehensive abilities include listening， speaking， reading， writing and translation. The listening ability is thebasis. But what can learners do to improve listening ability？

First of all， fully use of the textbook. Textbook is a useful and the most convenient material of listening， which includes special listening materials and the texts are also good to practice. In addition， find some special ways and books to practice. Its difficult for English learners to improve listening ability easily， so that learners should especially train it. Last but not the least， stick to practice. As the old saying goes， Rome is not built in a day. Learning a language is long process which needs hard-working and perseverance. There are many ways to improve listening abilities， but some are the same and essential. Of course， the learners should try hard to find the ways that suit for them most.
