Moomba Festival

People in different countries have their special festivals. For people in Melbourne （墨尔本）， Australia， their biggest festival is Moomba Festival （蒙巴节）. It is a public （公共的） holiday now. People there started to celebrate the festival in 1955. And the festival begins on the first Tuesday in March. The word “Moomba” means “Let's get together and have fun”. People in Australia always celebrate the special festival in the city centre and along （沿着） the Yarra River.

More than 1，000，000 people from all over the world get together to celebrate Moomba Festival every year. There are lots of activities for all ages at Moomba Festival， like song and dance shows， water sports and so on. People like street parade （游行） and water sports best. There are beautiful firework shows near the river on the nights of the festival. Of course， enjoying nice food is an important part of the festival.

Moomba Festival also makes Melbourne the best place to enjoy and celebrate the International Labour Day （國际劳动节）.
