Daddy Long Legs
This book follows the story of a young girl Judy, as she goes to university and gets lots of new experiences. This book always reminds me of my mother, because she used to read it to me when I was ill in bed.
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
This is a science fiction book about a mans adventures (冒险) in space. It is really creative and has a very British sense of humor (幽默感). For this reason, it might be a bit difficult for foreigners to understand, but when I read it, I feel a strong connection to my home. When I worked in Japan and the USA, the book was by my side.
Harry Potter
Im sure many of you know Harry Potter books! I have read them many times since primary school. I really get lost in the stories. These days Im reading them again in Germany.

阅读理解
Li Yaotang is one of the most important and widely-read Chinese writers in the 20th century. He wrote under the pen name of Ba Jin. Ba Jin started writing his first work in the late 1920s. Li was born in Chengdu, Sichuan. He was born in a rich family. As a child, Li was taught to read and write first by his mother. In 1920, Li entered Chengdu Foreign Language School to study English. Three years later, Li moved to Shanghai and studied in Dongnan University. On February 15th, 1927, he went to Paris with his friend for further study. After returning to Shanghai in 1928, Ba Jin continued writing and working on translation (翻译). His first novel (小说) came out in 1929. Then he wrote a lot of famous novels during ten years. Most of Ba Jins works could be easily understood by anyone with high school education, which made him one of the easiest modern Chinese writers. Ba Jin died of cancer (癌癥) in Shanghai at the age of 100. His death marked the end of a century for Chinese literature.
