Priceless Gifts

The National Art Museum of China（NAMOC） in Beijing reopened on May 13 with a daily cap of 500 visitors. The reopening is marked by a new exhibition that was originally planned for the Chinese Spring Festival， but was called off due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease in late January.

NAMOC houses 110，000 objects of art， of which more than 30，000 items are gifted. The new exhibition displays 900 donated masterpieces by Chinese and foreign masters ranging from Xu Beihong （1895-1953）， best known for his ink paintings of horses， to U.S. artist Andy Warhol （1928-87）， a leading fi gure in the visual pop art movement.

NAMOC was opened to the public in 1963 in Beijing with its title board inscribed by Chairman Mao Zedong. It is also the only national art museum of plastic arts in China.
