On April 26, Chongqing Municipal Peoples Government donated medical supplies to Singapore for fight against COVID-19 pandemic. The donation ceremony was held at the office building of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal Government. Li Bo, vice mayor of Chongqing, Zhang Yongwu, party secretary and director-general of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal Government, consul-general Tan Chee King and vice consul Han Kaijie of Singapore in Chengdu attended the meeting. Wang Wen, deputy director-general of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal Government, presided over the donation ceremony.

In recent years, thanks to the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity and the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, Chongqing and Singapore have become closer partners and are having more frequent exchanges and cooperation. The Connectivity Project, with Chongqing as the operation center, stands as the third intergovernmental cooperation project between China and Singapore, which focuses on four key areas of cooperation: financial services, aviation industry, transportation and logistics, and information and communication.

Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal Government investigates poverty alleviation in Ping'an Township of Fengjie County

From April 23 to 24, Zhang Yongwu, party secretary and director-general of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal Government, led a mission to Ping'an Township in Fengjie County for poverty alleviation investigation. They visited the alleviated households of Cizhu Village in Ping'an Township, the counterpart village of the one-on-one poverty alleviation program of the Office, and encouraged them to continue to develop industries and increase income.

Zhang Yongwu spoke highly of the targeted poverty alleviation work in Ping'an Township and the Party's efforts to promote poverty alleviation. He said that the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal Government will resolutely implement the deployment and requirements of CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Chongqing Municipal Peoples Government, increase counterpart assistance efforts, continue to use foreign affairs channels to promote the cultural and tourism resources of Fengjie County, support the development of poverty alleviation industry and infrastructure improvement in Cizhu Village, so as to make greater contributions to Fengjie County's overall victory in fighting poverty.

Wang Guangcheng, member of the leading Party members group and secretary of the CPC committee of Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal Government, and Hu Shiyang, deputy head of the discipline inspection and supervision team of Chongqing Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Chongqing Municipal Supervisory Commission to Chongqing Municipal Commerce Commission, participated in the investigative trip.

Foreign affairs departments of Sichuan and Chongqing sign Memorandum of Cooperation on Jointly Promoting the Development of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle

On May 12, the First Meeting between Director-Generals of Sichuan and Chongqing Foreign Affairs Offices on Promoting the Development of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle was held in Chongqing. At the meeting, Zhang Yongwu, director-general of Chongqing Foreign Affairs Office, and Cui Zhiwei, director-general of Sichuan Foreign Affairs Office, signed the Memorandum of Cooperation on Jointly Promoting the Development of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.

The Memorandum of Cooperation identified 19 projects of cooperation in 6 areas. The two sides agreed to jointly seek support from the Central Government, work together on the development of platforms and channels, jointly promote publicity and exchanges with foreign countries, and work together to strengthen foreign affairs management and services. The two sides also reached consensus on the training of foreign affairs staff and the establishment of a long-term exchange and cooperation mechanism.

The foreign affairs departments of Sichuan and Chongqing will continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation in accordance with the Memorandum of Cooperation so as to contribute to the development of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and the higher-level opening-up and development of the inland region at the foreign affairs front.

On April 21, the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal Government and the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee held a meeting in Chongqing.

Zhang Yongwu, party secretary and director-general of Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal Government, and Jiang Bin, director-general of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of CPC Chengdu Municipal Committee, attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

Zhang Yongwu meets with head of HKSAR Chongqing Liaison Unit SO Tsz Yin

On April 14, Zhang Yongwu, director-general of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal Government met with SO Tsz Yin, head of the Chongqing Liaison Unit of the Government of HKSAR and her delegation at the office building of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal Government. The two sides had in-depth exchanges on promoting cooperation between Chongqing and Hong Kong.

Zhang Yongwu said that Hong Kong is the "bridgehead" of Chongqing's opening-up to the outside world, that the Office invites and supports Hong Kong people from all walks of life to participate in Chongqing's endeavor to build itself as an opening-up highland in inland China and the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, and that the two sides shall focus on the cultivation and development of industrial brands and promotion of cooperation, and continue to carry out exchanges in fields of government cooperation, economy, culture and tourism, youth education, science and technology.

SO Tsz Yin introduced the responsibilities and service targets of the Chongqing Liaison Unit of the Government of HKSAR, the achievements and future directions of exchanges and cooperation between Chongqing and Hong Kong. She said that she would continue to deepen high-level and multi-field exchanges between the governments of Chongqing and Hong Kong to enhance mutual understanding.

Chongqing holds webinars with foreign partners to share practices on battling COVID-19 outbreak

Following the guidance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chongqing has held webinars with a number of countries on the prevention and control of COVID-19 during the critical time when the international community was battling the pandemic. Chongqing's medical expert team gave detailed answers to the questions raised by their foreign counterparts and shared Chongqings practices in the prevention and control of COVID-19 as well as the treatment plans, contributing the wisdom of Chongqing to assist foreign countries in fighting against the pandemic.

On April 1, Chongqing and Hungary held a webinar. Tang Wen, deputy director-general of Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal Government, Dr. L?rinczi Zoltán, state secretary of Hungary's Human Resources Ministry, Dióssi Lóránd, Hungarian Consul General in Chongqing, attended the webinar. The Hungarian side thanked Chongqing's expert team for the timely sharing of valuable experience on the prevention and control of COVID-19, and hoped the experience learned from the Chinese side would help Hungary defeat the pandemic as soon as possible.

On April 17, Chongqing held a webinar with Brazil. Qu Yuhui, minister counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Brazil, attended the webinar. Through Q&As, experts of both sides exchanged views on the different aspects of the pandemic: features of its spread, screening, pharmaceutical preparations, treatment methods as well as prevention and control measures.

On April 21, Chongqing held the second webinar with Ukraine, which was presided over by Wang Wen, deputy director-general of Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal Government. Irina Mikichak, Ukraine's deputy minister of health, attended the webinar and thanked Chongqing for further sharing with Ukraine in-depth experience on the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19.

On April 29, Chongqing and Sacramento, California, USA held a webinar to share experience in battling COVID-19 pandemic. Rong Chengze, chief representative of Sacramento's Representative Office in China, expressed his appreciation of the friendly relations established between Chongqing and Sacramento over the years and thanked the expert teams of both sides for the lofty sharing of their professional knowledge and experience.

Chongqing donates supplies to foreign friendly cities or organizations to assist them battle COVID-19 outbreak

During the difficult time when Chongqing was battling COVID-19 outbreak, it received a total of about 30 million yuan worth of medical supplies from its international partners. As the epidemic broke out in many places around the world, Chongqing has been actively carrying out foreign aid and cooperation to the best of its capabilities. At present, it has donated medical protective supplies to more than 30 countries as well as Chongqings friendly cities and organizations.

On April 19 and 24, Chongqing shipped out its donations of medical supplies to Costa Rica and S?o Paulo State in Brazil respectively. On April 27 local time in Costa Rica, the charted aircraft loaded with medical protective supplies donated by different places in China landed at Juan Santamaría International Airport in San José, Costa Ricas capital. Costa Rican President Carlos Alvarado Quesada posted on his personal social media account to express his heartfelt thanks to the Chinese government and Chinese provinces and municipalities including Chongqing, Fujian and Jiangsu. Local netizens left many messages of thanks for China under the post.

Recently, Banan District in Chongqing donated medical supplies to South District of Gwangju in South Korea, Sassari City in Italy and Sanjo City of Niigata in Japan. It reflects the profound friendship between Chongqing and its international friendly cities and between the peoples who share weal and woe.
