The novel coronavirus disease(COVID-19) epidemic spread across China around the 2020 Spring Festival, and 1.4 billion Chinese people have united together to fight the epidemic.
At this critical time, those who have risked their lives to stand up to adversity on the front lines have been hailed as heroes. During the war against the epidemic, more and more heroes have emerged. Over 20,000 healthcare workers in more than 100 medical teams from across the nation converged on Hubei, the hardest-hit province, to support epidemic prevention and control. Thousands of engineers and construction personnel worked around the clock to build two specialized hospitals equipped with 2,500 beds in less than 15 days. Community workers are leaving no stone unturned as they check every block to make sure that no family in need goes without help. Volunteers are working nonstop to help deliver supplies and assistance to affected regions. Overseas Chinese around the globe rushed to make donations in supplies and cash to help battle the outbreak. Countless ordinary members of society have joined the efforts in any way they can. They have all been praised as“heroes in harms way.”
