巴西每个地区都有自己独特的文化节目。桑巴是巴西南部地区的一种主要的舞蹈形式,然而桑巴已经被大家所熟悉,所以我们这次带来了另外一种风情的舞蹈——费莱沃舞,这是巴西东北部地区一种非常独特的舞蹈。桑巴和费莱沃舞都起源于街头,都集合了很多地区的文化,是将黑人文化、印第安人文化、欧洲文化等融合在一起的舞蹈,但费莱沃舞更有非洲舞蹈的味道,这也是因为它是由非洲舞蹈演变而来的。
我们之前曾到德国、意大利、葡萄牙、美国等国家演出,这是第一次来到中国,与其他国家的演员一起进行演出,在这里我们学习、体会到了很多东西。这次演出也让我们更加珍惜不同国家之间的文化,这都是非常宝贵的财富。
Each region of Brazil has its own unique cultural program.Samba is a major form of dance in southern Brazil.However, this form is already familiar to everyone.This time the Frevo is a very unique dance from northeastern part of the country.Both Samba and Frevo originate from the streets,a collection of cultures from many different regions.They are a combination of black culture, Indian culture, and European culture.It can be seen that some steps of the Frevo dance have some taste of African style, which is also because it evolved from African dance.
We have participated in performances in Germany, Italy, Portugal,the United States and other countries in the past.This is the first time we have come to China to perform with performers from other countries.We have learned a lot here.This performance also makes us more cherish the cultures between different countries,which are very valuable assets.

我们来到中国想尽情地展示哥伦比亚的民族民俗文化。哥伦比亚的地形比较复杂,三个主要山脉划分出了不同的民族和不同的区域,人们大多在自己的区域生活,互相之间很闭塞,但也由此产生了多样的文化。我们带来了哥伦比亚最有名的一种舞蹈,这种舞蹈同时包含了非洲的鼓、印第安人的长笛以及西班牙人的服饰、西班牙舞蹈的动作。对于中国观众就像哥伦比亚当地的观众一样能够感受我们的节目,我们非常感动——我们来到呼和浩特市消防救援支队演出,虽然他们平时都很辛苦,却有很好的艺术感受力,他们是最好的观众,我要向他们表示敬意。
When we came to China, we wanted to fully display Colombia's national folk culture.The terrain of Colombia is relatively complicated.The three main mountains divide different peoples at different regions.People live in their own areas, but isolated from each other, and they have produced a variety of cultures.So we brought Colombia's most famous dance, which is composed of African drums, Indian flutes, Spanish costumes and dance movements.But Chinese viewers can feel our program just like those in Colombia.When we came to the Hohhot Fire Rescue Detachment, we found that they had good artistic sensibility although they worked very hard most of the time.They are the best audience and I want to congratulate them.

这次参加中国国际民间艺术节,我们带来的表演是克罗地亚经典的科洛舞,这个舞蹈反映的是克罗地亚人耕种交流的场景。在克罗地亚许多传统手工艺中,都保留着过去的文化形式,比如克罗地亚盛产橄榄油、葡萄酒、薰衣草,现在在采橄榄的时候,妇女仍戴着过去的围巾。科洛舞中的转圈、蹦跳等动作,都是在表现克罗地亚的耕种和交流的情景。
我们舞蹈团刚从土耳其演出结束就来到了这里,团员们时常感叹,来到中国仿佛是来到了另外一个世界。相信随着克罗地亚成为“一带一路”上的重要节点,中国与克罗地亚之间的交流会越来越深入,克罗地亚人民对中国也会越来越熟悉。
The performance we brought this time is the classic Croatian kolo dance, which reflects the scene of Croatian farming exchanges.Amongst the traditional Croatian craftsmanship,cultural forms of the past have been preserved.For example, olive oil, wine and lavender are widely produced in Croatia, and especially during the process of picking up olives, women still wear scarves of the past.Many movements, such as laps and bouncing in the dance,are scenes of farming and communication in the country.
Our dance troupe came here right after the end of our performance in Turkey.For most members, this is the second time that they have come to China.They often say that coming here is like entering another world.It is believed that as Croatia becomes an important node on the "Belt and Road" and the "17 + 1 cooperation" between China and Europe, the exchanges between China and Croatia will become more and more intensive, and the Croatian people will become more and more familiar with China.

虽然这是我们第一次参加中国国际民间艺术节,但是在此之前我们在北京和沈阳参加过很多类似的演出,所以对中国也有一定的了解。民间艺术节是传统民间艺术的盛会,所以这次我们也选择了伊朗传统经典的民族音乐节目,展现给中国观众。中国和伊朗在历史上就有着非常友好的关系,“一带一路”的倡议让两国的关系更加密切,有非常多的沟通和合作,我们也希望通过这些节目,展现我们对中国文化的景仰和对中国人民的友好。
来到这里感觉非常好,这里有很有特色的蒙古族文化,蒙古族人和汉族人非常友好地生活在一起,让我们看到了中国人的团结友善。在这种氛围下,这次的演出之行更像一次愉快的旅行,我们团队在这次旅行中都非常开心。
Th is is our first time participating in the China International Folk Arts Festival, but before that we have participated in many similar performances in Beijing and Shenyang, so we also have a certain understanding of China.Folk art festival is a grand event of traditional folk art, so this time we also choose Iranian traditional classic and native music to pass on to Chinese audiences.China and Iran enjoy a very friendly relationship in history, and the"Belt and Road" initiative has made the two countries much closer.There is a lot of communication and cooperation.We also hope that the values expressed in these programs will show our value for China cultural faith and friendliness.
It feels very good to be here.There is a very special Mongolian culture here.The Mongolians and Hans live very friendly together,allowing us to see the unity and friendship of the Chinese people.In this atmosphere, this performance tour is more like a pleasant trip.The people in our team are very happy during this trip and look forward to the future trip in China.

本届艺术节把世界各国的艺术团聚集在一起,每个艺术团都展现出了自己的风采和特色,同时也见识到了其他国家艺术团的表演,我想这就是对本届艺术节“天下一家”最好的诠释。
我们团的艺术特色是创新、有活力、帅气,在这样一个国际性的平台上传播韩国的文化是很有意义的事情,所以我们会在传统的基础上进行再创作。我们首先要考虑的是如何让作品通俗易懂,而不是把作品表现得有多难、技巧有多高。我们会从全世界范围内的一些作品中去汲取灵感,然后发挥自己的想象力,去创造一些原本不存在的东西,世界各国的观众都会希望看到一些新的东西。通过艺术节这一机会,我们也看到中国在各方面都很开放,观众很热情,我认为中国的观众很喜欢我们的节目。
This art festival brings together art troupes from all over the world.Each country's art troupes have displayed their own style and characteristics, also, meanwhile, witnessing the performances of art troupes from other countries and broadening their horizons.I think this is the right interpretation of this festival's theme, is the best interpretation of "The world as one Family".
The artistic characteristics of our group are innovative, energetic and handsome.It is very meaningful to spread Korean culture on such an international platform, so we will re-create on the basis of tradition.The first thing we need to consider is how to make the work easy to understand, rather than more difficult and sophisticated.
We also cherish this opportunity, because we will draw inspiration from some existing works around the world, and then use our imagination to create something that does not exist, just like the square drum we use for performances, it is utterly unique in the world, as audiences from all over the world hope to see something novel.Through the opportunity of the festival, we also saw that China is very open in all aspects and the audience is very enthusiastic.I think Chinese audiences like our program very much.

从1998年参加第4届中国国际民间艺术节算起来,我们团已经是第四次参加中国国际民间艺术节了。每届中国国际民间艺术节都会在中国不同的省份举办,这一次恰好在内蒙古自治区举办,我们能在这里参加艺术节非常高兴,因为这里和蒙古国有着深厚的渊源关系。
这次我们共有39个演员来参加,带来的节目包含歌曲、舞蹈等,还有原生态的民间艺术,如呼麦、马头琴、口弦琴等。在本届艺术节中,我们通过整体和分组等不同形式,分别给大家展现蒙古国的民间舞蹈、马头琴等特色鲜明的传统艺术。每一届艺术节我们都收获颇丰,此次也不例外,本届艺术节来了十几个国家的艺术家,他们身上有很多值得我们学习、借鉴的东西。
Counting from participating in the 4thChina International Folk Art Festival in 1998, this is the 4thtime that our group has participated in this event in China.Each session will be held in a different province.This time it happens to be held in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, for which we are very happy because it has a deep relationship with Mongolia.
This time we have a total of 39 performers.The programs we bring include songs, dances etc., as well as original folk art, such as Hoomei Morin khuur, harmonica, and Hoomei.In this art festival, we intend to show Mongolian folk dance, Morin khuur and other distinctive Mongolian traditional arts through different forms of entirety and grouping.We have learned a lot from each festival, and this time is no exception.There are artists from more than a dozen countries in this festival.They have a lot of things that we should learn from.

中国和荷兰相隔8000公里之远,来到中国我们却有宾至如归的感觉,中国的一切让我有舒适感,让我感到惊奇。我对中国越来越熟悉,我们未来希望以中国为灵感进行创作,把荷兰语的歌曲翻译成中文,并在以后的演出中表演重新编曲的中文歌曲。在这次演出有限的时间内,我们希望尽量让团队中不同的歌手和乐手都能够上场展示自己,所以选择了相应的曲目。歌曲的歌词不是最重要的,我们选取曲目的标准是让讲不同语言的观众都能感受到音乐中快乐的情绪,只要观众乐于听到我们的音乐,我们就会取得成功,而事实证明演出取得了良好的效果。我还有一个惊喜的发现:由中国年轻人组成的街舞团队的节目非常好看、非常现代。
China and the Netherlands are 8,000 kilometers away, but we feel at home.The most pleasant surprise is that everything in China has a sense of comfort that surprises me.I am more and more familiar with China.In the future, we hope to use China as inspiration to compose, translate Dutch songs into Chinese,and perform re-arranged Chinese songs in future performances.Due to the limited time of this performance, we wanted to try our best to allow different singers and musicians of the team to show themselves, so we chose the corresponding track.The lyrics of the song are not the most important.The criteria for our selection are to allow audiences who speak different languages to have the happy mood in the music.As long as the audience is happy to hear our music, we will succeed, and it turns out that the performance has achieved good results.I also had a surprise as I found that the program of the hip-hop team composed of young Chinese was very cool and modern.

此次来中国演出非常重要,我们的团队代表的是整个俄罗斯,我们想传达出我们的情感、民族性格和精神。中国和俄罗斯之间的历史与友谊十分长久,我们想要继续支持和发展这种关系。比如,为了达到最好的演出效果,我们专门去学习了《莫斯科郊外的晚上》的汉语版,而且请学校里学习汉语的同学辅导了演员的汉语发音。在节目中,我们采用一些中国观众熟悉的歌曲,以及通过精心设计的歌舞表现形式,就是希望能够让中国观众感动并感到亲切。我们非常重视和珍惜现场观众的回应,这是最好的反馈。前往不同的社区演出非常有意义,我和我的老师还有我的学生们也经常在克拉斯诺达尔边疆区的各个地方进行巡演,我们服务各个地区的群众的目的与中国的乌兰牧骑是一样的。
This performance is very important.When we come to China, our team represents not only the Cuban Cossack region, but the entire Russia.We want to convey our emotions, national character and spirit.China and Russia have a long history and relationship, and we want to continue to support and develop this relationship.For example, in order to achieve the best effect of the performance, we went to study the Chinese version ofThe Evening of the Moscow Outskirtsand asked the students who studied Chinese in the school to tutor the Chinese pronunciation of the performers.In the program, we use some songs that are familiar to Chinese audiences, and through well-designed song and dance expressions, we hope to make Chinese audiences moved and feel close.The response from the audience at the scene made us very pleased.We do value and cherish this response.This is the best one.It is very meaningful to go to different communities to perform.My teachers and my students often tour in various places in Krasnodar border areas to show our dance and music to the locals.We serve all regions with the purposes, the same of Wulanmuqi.Our performance has a knack: every performer will perform from their deep heart,so as to pass the emotions to the audience.

艺术节能够把这么多国家的团队聚集起来,表演如此让人惊艳的节目,所有人的情绪都如此饱满,让艺术节非常震撼人心。我们舞蹈团的很多学生都来自于南非偏远的农村,他们第一次出国就来到了中国。学生们平时可能会去周边小的舞台、零散地进行表演,从来没有组织过这么多人一起来到另一个国家、站在这么大的舞台上表演,他们觉得这次旅程特别棒,我们非常感谢中国的主办方。
我们的舞蹈是对民族仪式感的延伸,可以提高民族的自豪感,可以和其他国家的艺术家共同分享文化和艺术的内涵。每个国家都有自己的立场,但是艺术是无国界的,在艺术节中文化艺术更容易传播、更容易交流沟通,虽然语言不通,大家用眼睛、用耳朵来感受艺术却没有障碍,也不掺杂利益。在这里你会被感染,内心的感觉会得到回应。
The festival is capable of gathering teams from so many regions together to perform such amazing programs with most high emotions, making the festival very shocking.Many students of our dance troupes are from remote rural areas in South Africa.And China is their first overseas destination.The students may usually go to small stages around and perform art performances in an irregular manner, but so many people have never been organized together to visit another country and stand on such a large stage to perform, making them most proud about this journey and lucky for themselves.We are very grateful to the Chinese organizers.Our dance is an extension and protection of the sense of national ritual, which can promote the country's spirit, improve national pride, and share cultural and artistic connotations with artists from other countries.Each country has its own stand, but the cultural community is borderless.Culture and art are much easier to spread amid communication in art festivals.Although the language is inaccessible, everyone can feel the art with their eyes and ears without obstacles, with concerns about interests.Here you will be infected and your inner feelings will be echoed.

能够向中国观众展示我们的文化是非常荣幸的事情,我们希望把乌兹别克斯坦不同地区的历史、宗教、文化更多地介绍给中国观众,所以在一个节目中换了六套不同的服饰,展示了六种舞蹈。而在另一个节目中,我们展示了通常在盛大节日表演的舞蹈,演员穿着用阿德拉斯绸缝制的服装,展现民族团结、勤劳、美丽的一面。
现在乌兹别克斯坦人的生活中有很多中国制造的产品,让我们对中国非常感兴趣,我们觉得中国人特别有智慧。对我们来说,中国的文化和艺术特别有魅力,所以每次来到中国我们都会把一些中国音乐带回国,并学习中国的舞蹈、用中国的服装来进行排练,来丰富我们的节目,给我们的演出增加更多的色彩。
It is a great honor to be able to show our culture to the Chinese audience.We hope to introduce the history, religion and culture of different regions in Uzbekistan to the Chinese audiences.So the performers have changed different costumes for six times with diverse dance respectively in the show.In another show, we showed dances that are usually performed at grand festivals.The performers wore clothes made of adras silk,showing the unity, hard work and beauty of our country.There are a lot of China-made products in Uzbekistan's life now, which make us very interested in China.We think that Chinese people are especially intelligent, so every time we come to China, we will bring some music back, learn the Chinese dances, and rehearse in Chinese clothing with purpose of enriching our program.

瓦努阿图是一个岛国,有80多个岛屿,这次参加表演的学生就来自各个岛。每个岛屿的舞蹈风格都是独一无二的,在生活中,我们只在节日庆典上才跳这些舞蹈,我们之所以在这里着盛装进行舞蹈表演,是因为我们把中国国际民间艺术节当做一次盛大的节日来对待。虽然在本届艺术节上,我们共表演了11支舞蹈,但这也只是瓦努阿图所有舞蹈中的一小部分,所展示出来的舞蹈动作也只是一部分,非常期待以后还能有机会在中国进行更多表演。
我们18个团员都因为能够参加到这次表演活动当中,感到非常振奋、激动。在中国,我们看到中国人和瓦努阿图人有很多相似的地方,两个国家的人都非常热情友好,面对陌生人也都会经常笑着说“你好”,这种氛围让我们感到舒适与放松。
Vanuatu is an island nation with more than 80 islands.The students who participated in the show came from various islands.Each island's dance style is unique, and we only perform these dances at festivals in daily life.The reason we are here in costumes for dance performances is because we treat the International Folk Arts, Festival as a grand festival.Although we performed a total of 11 dances at this festival, this is only a small part of all dances in Vanuatu, and the movements shown are only a part.I look forward to the opportunity to perform in China in future.
All of our 18 performing students were very excited as they were able to participate in this performance.In China, we find many similarities between the Chinese and Vanuatu people, who are very warm and friendly, and they often smile and say "hello"to strangers.This atmosphere makes us feel comfortable and relaxed.

这次我们带来的节目是由中国香港、澳门、内蒙古自治区及台湾地区的舞者共同演绎,表现青年人积极健康向上状态的作品。虽然时间有限,节目排练时间不是很充裕,但呈现出的效果以及观众看节目时的气氛非常好,都让我很感动。在舞蹈编排过程中,各地舞者进行了深入友好的交流,各地舞者们来到内蒙古,亲眼见证了这里蓬勃向上的发展势头。海峡两岸暨港澳地区青年共同讲述中国故事,发出中国青年声音,也是对街舞这种动作形态的一种新的演绎。期待未来有更好更多的富于编创性且属于中国本土文化的街舞作品,这样才能够扩展和引领更多的青少年热爱中国文化——热爱中国文化,首先得有兴趣,有兴趣就会去了解,了解之后就会爱上。
The program we bring this time is an active and healthy state of youth performed by dancers from Hong Kong, Macao, Inner Mongolia and Taiwan.During the choreography process, dancers from all over the country conducted in-depth and friendly exchanges.Dancers from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan came to the mainland and witnessed the vigorous development.This kind of performance that brings together dancers from the four regions is very suitable for the theme of the opening gala of the festival, "The world as one Family".Meanwhile, street dance is an international buzzword that tells Chinese stories and voices sound of Chinese youth, a new interpretation of hip-hop action.In the future, there should be better and more such choreographic works belonging to the street dance culture of China so as to expand and lead more young people to love Chinese culture.To do so, you must first be interested, and if you are interested, you will understand,and after you understand it, you will fall in love with it.

杂技是中国的传统艺术,我们此次演出承担着文化交流的责任。这次演出的节目《流星》是我们团的传统保留节目,经过近两年的编排、整合,将传统杂技艺术结合了现代音乐、现代舞,该剧变成了一个观赏性更强的节目,受到了各国观众的欢迎,并在今年3月代表中国参加了法国“明日”杂技比赛获得了金奖。我们想通过中国国际民间艺术节的演出,打破观众对传统杂技的固有认识,给观众带来强烈的艺术感受,并且还要表达出青春活力和阳光向上,因为它代表着未来杂技的发展方向。外国友人对我说,他们对我们的节目印象非常深刻,这让我们感到非常自豪。这次演出给了我们很多信心和动力,我们团以后还要到国外去演出,更多呈现中国杂技的全新面貌。
Acrobatics is a traditional Chinese art, and we are responsible for cultural exchanges in this performance.The performance of this show, Meteor, is a traditional program reserved by our group.After nearly two years of programming and integration, the traditional acrobatic technology has been combined with modern music and dance.And we have turned it into a program with more elements of admiration, welcomed by audiences from various countries, and in March 2019, it represented China in the French Tomorrow Acrobatics Competition, claiming the gold medal.
We intend to break the audience's inherent understanding of traditional acrobatics through the performance at the China International Folk Arts Festival, bringing a strong artistic feeling to the audiences.And also it needs to express youthful vitality and sunshine, as it represents the development direction of future acrobatics.Foreign friends told me that they were very impressed with our show, which made us very proud.This performance gave us a lot of confidence and motivation.Our group will go abroad to perform in the future, showing a new look of Chinese acrobatics to the world.

我们团里这些出身贫困的孩子在山里面很少能接触到新事物,本届艺术节对他们来说太重要了,大大开阔了他们的眼界。相比以往的演出,本届艺术节提供了更高的平台和国际化的环境,孩子们在快速地向其他高水平的团队看齐,无论在什么地方、要适应什么样的场地,只要灯光一亮起来,面对台下的观众,他们都能够迅速兴奋起来。
在完成开幕式自己的演出后,一些孩子一直在看外国艺术团的舞蹈是怎么编排的,他们用心在记、在思考。在后台,他们走出自己的化妆间,在公共休息区大胆地表演,向外国团队展示自己。只要有机会,他们会用仅会的一些英文单词去交流,去努力感受外国艺术团的氛围;接触到更高层次的艺术让一些孩子立志做艺术家,艺术会改变他们的命运。
Opening the horizons via taking part in the International Folk Art Festival is too important for these children with poor family backgrounds.They cannot approach new things in the mountains.Compared with previous performances, this art festival provides a higher platform and an international environment.Children are quickly aligning with other high-level teams.No matter where they are, what kind of venue to adapt to, they can quickly get excited when facing the audiences as long as the light turns on.
After completing their own performance at the opening ceremony,some children watched the choreography of the foreign art troupe from beginning to the end.They were memorizing and thinking.In the background, they walked out of their dressing room, performing boldly in the common lounge area, and showing themselves to foreign teams.As long as they have a chance,they will use talk in few English words that they only know to communicate and try to feel the atmosphere of foreign art troupes.Exposure to higher levels of art has made some children determine to be artists, and art has changed their destiny

“不得不”乐队是一支刚成立不久的乐队,在本届艺术节上的演出是乐队成立后的第一次演出。演出后,当听到有人说我们的演出“很带劲”时,我感到很欣慰,能有这样的效果非常高兴。演出的歌曲《我们在一起》是乐队专门为本届艺术节创作的,这首歌主要体现中国人的力量、真诚和热情,欢迎大家来到中国。我们认为天下应该是一家人,所有人都是姐妹弟兄,不仅民族要大团结,世界都是一家人,这就是我们想要传递给全世界的信息。
这次活动是一个国际交流的窗口,也希望通过这种交流,让更多的外国朋友了解中国现代社会状态。通过这几天的演出交流,其他国家的演员给了我们很大的动力,每个人都很富有激情,他们的奔放、热情也感染了我们。
The "Have To" is a newly formed band.The performance at this festival is the first time the band performed.When I heard someone say that our performance was "very exciting" after the show, I was very pleased and very happy to have such an effect.The songWe Are Togetherwas written by the band for this festival, which mainly reflects the strength,sincerity and enthusiasm of the Chinese people.All are welcome to our country.We believe that the world should be a family,and all are like sisters and brothers.Not only the nation must be united, but the world must be like a family.This is the message we want to convey to the world.

The art festival provides a platform where art connects the friendship among the world's peoples, and art also builds a bridge of friendship between peoples.As this year's art festival was held in Hohhot, we have taken out the artistic works concerning grassland culture, so that artists from all countries can feel the changes in grassland through art and experience the elements of the life of the grassland people.
Art is of great diversity.Through performances, it has been discovered that all countries have brought their best national culture and art to this art festival.It is hoped that, in the process of future art development, artists from various countries can create more artistic works reflecting the national cultures of their countries and bring them to China.While allowing the Chinese people to appreciate foreign cultures, they will also bring back the earth-shaking changes that have taken place in China.Communication amongst countries in the form of art is a very good form.I hope that this form and exchanges will be a little more in future.

Seeking to Build a Better Future Head of Celebrating Arts: Extreme Dance Company of USA,Julie H.Haupt
1913年,林默涵出生于福建省武平市,他一直为早日能够成为一名领衔者而努力准备着。新中国成立后,他担任文化部副部长和中国文联副主席,积极推动中国科学和艺术人才的培养。在他林林总总的贡献中,他开启了建立中美国际文化桥梁的早期工作。中美邦交正常化后不久,他率中国政府派出的第一个官方文化艺术团访美。他和代表团成员于1979年抵达纽约,参加了一个音乐教育家会议。在会议期间,他广交益友,并因此延长行程并受邀带领代表团访问杨百翰大学。他不仅成功领导了一个代表团,而且还成功培养了一个女儿,林京京,对于此次中美文化交流具有重要意义。
大约40年后的今天,作为美国一家非营利组织的副总裁,京京和她的同事们正致力于在中美之间建立同样的友善国际关系。正值中美建交40周年(1979-2019),他们应邀带领美国青年文化艺术代表团参加由中国文联举办的第11届中国国际民间艺术节,她父亲曾在文联工作了许多年,将一个个梦想变为现实。但是,在他们抵达举行本届艺术节的呼和浩特之前,这个美国文化艺术团将他们的艺术才华带到了武平——以表达对那位老人和所有一切从这块土地起航的敬意——让两代人的工作终于画上了一个同心圆。

这次经历的一大亮点是有机会造访了武平第一中学。林默涵曾就读过这个学校,现在这里有一座以他的名字命名的科学大楼。中国的高中生们带着他们的新美国朋友在校园里成群结队地参观了各种设施,然后聚集在教室里分享文化艺术。中美两国的青年们对于彼此的精彩演出十分动容,双方的领队站在大家面前分享了自己的体会,但对林默涵的回忆强烈地提醒人们,两国在地理界限相隔千里,但艺术可以让大家汇聚到一起。
怀着极大的期待,美国代表团将目光投向了北方,中国文联举办的中国国际民间艺术节在那里举行,他们有机会在这样的舞台上结识更多的来自中国和世界各地的朋友们。他们也很高兴有机会与来自世界各地的舞者一起在这个世界一流的舞台上表演。这次活动也为各个代表团成员交流互动提供了各种机会,比如在同一个大餐厅内用餐,在排练中互相见面,在表演场地的后台和大厅里大声问候——活动现场的气氛充满了生机、吸引力。由于参与者们都变成了朋友并共同创造出美好的回忆,年轻人的独创性以及热爱音乐和舞蹈的共同点使语言和文化的障碍越来越少。美国舞者、17岁的兰登说道:“在这个艺术节上演出,感觉简直是太令人难以置信了。我遇到了很多表演者,他们的才能是那么的不可思议,而且对每个人都很友善。”
开幕式从头到尾都十分令人激动。各个国家展示了自己的文化传统和多名极具天分的舞者,这也说明此次活动的目的就是展示人类表达方式的多样性。美国代表团以美国标志性音乐为基础,带来了精心编排的演出,紧紧扎根于演出本身。在最后的谢幕仪式上,中美两队肩并肩站着,挥舞着各自的旗帜,展现了他们巨大的合作精神。而这一信息并没有在年轻的美国舞者的心灵中迷失。一位青年舞蹈家坎伯利说:“我在这里看到不同的文化,国家和人民团结在一起,这真让我感到惊讶。”
在剩余的一周时间里,美国艺术团与来自韩国和乌兹别克斯坦的表演者一起前往呼和浩特市周边的四个不同地点,将一场场节目带给当地观众。演出地点各式各样,例如爆满的剧院,一个商业中心附近的露天广场,公园中纪念内蒙古历史的一小片绿地以及汇聚了当地消防员的会议室等等。每个地方的人群都和演员们积极互动,热情洋溢。美国代表团成员在教练斯塔奇·休斯顿的指导下进行了认真的准备,非营利组织的创意总监保罗·温克尔曼(两次奥运会的编舞)作为美国代表团领队,他也组织编排了许多带到中国的作品,超过20种具有完整服装的舞蹈代表了多种美国音乐和舞蹈风格。每次表演都使他们与当地人分享这种文化的丰富性。

In 1913, Lin Mohan was born in Wuping, Fujian Province, and prepared himself early to become a leader.After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as deputy Minister of Culture and a vice chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.He actively promoted the cultivation of Chinese science and artistic talents.
Among his many contributions, he also initiated the building of i nternational cultural bridges with the United States.Soon after the normalization of diplomatic relationships between the United States and China, he led the first official cultural arts group sent by the Chinese government to the U.S.He and his delegation arrived in New York City in 1979 at a music educator's conference.As he made friends during the conference, he was invited to extend his trip to bring the first arts group to Brigham Young University.He pioneered these warm international relationships—yet he was successful in not only leading a group, but also teaching a daughter,Lin Jing Jing, the value of building international connections.
Now some four decades later as the vice president of an American non-profit organization, Jing Jing and her associates are dedicated to building those same goodwill international connections between the U.S.and China.On the occasion of 40thanniversary of the Diplomatic Tie's Between the Us and China (1979-2019), they were invited to bring a U.S.youth cultural arts delegation to represent the United States at the 11thChina International Folk Arts Festival sponsoredby the same organization, CFLAC, where her father had worked for so many years to bring dreams to fruition.But before they arrived in Hohhot where the festival would be held, this the U.S.cultural arts troupe brought their artistic talents to Wuping—a symbolic effort to pay homage to the man and the place where all of this had begun—bringing the work of two generations into a full circle.
The county of Wuping extended arms of friendship as these 24 talented youth dancers spent nearly a week exchanging with and performing for the local people and meeting with officials.These youth joined with the seniors in morning exercise under a bridge,danced in their parks in the beautiful summer evening hours,climbed the Liangyeshan Falls, and exchanged with local dancers of all ages to share the dances from each cultural tradition.
A highlight of the experience was the chance to go to Wuping's #1 High School—a place where Lin Mohan attended and now has a science building that bears his name.The Chinese high school students took their new American friends in small groups around the campus for a tour of the facilities and then gathered together in a classroom to share the cultural arts.Both the Chinese and American youth were deeply moved by the stirring performances given by both the Chinese students and the American team.As leaders of both the Chinese school and the American group stood to share a few remarks, the memory of Lin Mohan was a strong reminder that where geographical boundaries may divide, art can unite.
With great anticipation, the American delegation turned their eyes north towards their opportunity to make additional Chinese and other international friends at CFLAC's international festival.They were thrilled with the chance to perform on a world-class stage with dancers from many continents.The festival provided many opportunities for the performers from the various groups to interact as they ate together in large dining rooms, saw one another at rehearsals, shouted out greetings in the backstage and halls of the performance venue, and shared the elevator.The atmosphere was vibrant, inviting and unifying.A bit of youthful ingenuity and the common ground of loving music and dance allowed language and cultural barriers to begin to fall as the participants made many friends and created lasting memories.A dancer in the troupe, 17-year-old Landon, commented: "I had an incredible experience as I performed at this festival.I met performers that had incredible talent and were very kind to everyone."
The Opening Ceremony was a thrill from beginning to end.As each of the nations presented their cultural traditions and shared highlevel talent, the show celebrated the diversity of human expression.The U.S.group brought a formation number choreographed to iconic American music, anchoring the program.At the final curtain call, the Chinese and American teams stood shoulder to shoulder at the back waving their respective flags in a show of magnificent cooperative effort.This message was not lost on the hearts and minds of the young American dancers.Another youth dancer, Cambree, stated: "It was amazing for me to see different cultures, countries, and peoples come together as one."
Over the remaining days of the week, the American troupe traveled to four different locations in and out of Hohhot along with the performers from South Korea and Uzbekistan to bring a program to a variety of audiences.For example, they danced for a packed theater filled with families, an open air plaza near a commercial center, a grassy bit of plain in a park celebrating Inner Mongolian history, and a conference room where local firefighters had assembled.The crowds in every location responded with enthusiasm.The U.S.team had prepared diligently under the direction of their coach, Staci Huston, and were led by the nonprofit's Creative Director, Paul Winkelman (a choreographer for two Olympics), who organized and choreographed many of the pieces they brought to China—more than 20 dances with full costuming that represented many styles of American music and dance.Each performance allowed them to share this cultural richness with the local people.
The final Gala was a celebration of the goodwill that had been demonstrated throughout the Festival.I reiterated the "One World—One Family" theme and celebrated the way that the participants had come across seas, continents, and borders to gather and grasp hands of friendship.This festival had become a model of all the good the arts can do to build lasting peace and create a better world.This better world stands on the shoulders of great people, like Lin Mohan, but will be carried forward by the youth of many nations as they seek to build an even better future.
