China and Russia Furthers Space Cooperation

Recently, Chinese President XI Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a joint declaration on promoting a comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era in Moscow.
The two countries will expand and further long-term space cooperation on the basis of implementing cooperation in space-related areas from 2018 to 2022,including launch vehicle and engine, lunar and deep space, Earth observation, space electronics, space debris monitoring and low-orbit satellite communications systems.
2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of China-Russia diplomatic ties. The two countries have conducted space cooperation for over 60 years. Since the 1990s, China and Russia conducted a series of pragmatic cooperations in the space field and a space cooperation sub-committee of the China-Russia Prime Ministers' Regular Meeting Committee is responsible for coordinating bilateral space cooperation issues. A series of fruitful results have been achieved in areas such as satellite navigation and lunar and deep space exploration. (ZONG Xuan)
