Opening of New Airport
September 25, Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China(CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, attends the opening ceremony for the Beijing Daxing International Airport.
President Xi announced the official opening of the new airport. The completion of the airport in less than five years demonstrates Chinas capabilities in engineering and construction, evidences the nations strength and shines light on the political advantage of the CPCs leadership and the socialist system, Xi said.
Xi told workers in Daxing to make the new airport a world-class aviation hub to showcase Chinese wisdom and strength to the world and display Chinas openness and inclusiveness.
11th Ethnic Games Conclude
September 16, Zhengzhou, Henan Province: The closing ceremony of the 11th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities of the Peoples Republic of China attracts many spectators.
Over 7,000 athletes in 34 delegations from around China attended the nine-day event beginning on September 8, which aimed to promote cultural heritage and mutual understanding among Chinas 56 ethnic groups. A dozen arenas and gyms hosted 17 traditional sports including 140 official events and 194 exhibition events.
The quadrennial event will next be held in Hainan Province in 2023.
Harvest Festival Celebration
September 16, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province: Fishermen celebrate the arrival of fishing season in Xiangshan County.
A series of events were held across China to celebrate the second Chinese farmers harvest festival, which fell on September 23 this year.
To mark the festival, Chinese President Xi Jinping extended greetings to farmers and people working in agriculture and rural areas via China Central Televisions new channel dedicated to agriculture and rural affairs.
“With a solid foundation laid by agriculture, we have full confidence in development,” Xi said. The achievements China has made in fields related to agriculture, rural areas and farmers are outcomes of concerted efforts of the whole CPC and the country as well as the results of hard work by all farmers and people working in agriculture and rural areas, he said.
Beijing 2022 Mascots Unveiled

An animated giant panda named “Bing Dwen Dwen”and a red lantern baby called “Shuey Rhon Rhon” have been unveiled as the two mascots for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“The two mascots combine elements of traditional Chinese culture and a modern international style while emphasizing characteristics of ice and snow sports as well as those of the host city,” declared Beijing 2022 executive president Chen Jining, also mayor of Beijing.“They vividly capture the Chinese peoples eager expectations for the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as Chinas warm invitation to friends from all over the world.”
Retrieved Cultural Relics
September 17, Beijing: Visitors view exhibits at an exhibition showcasing Chinas achievements in cultural relic retrieval at the National Museum of China. More than 600 valuable cultural relics are on display at the exhibition celebrating the countrys arduous yet fruitful efforts in cultural relic retrieval over the last seven decades. Divided into four sections, the exhibition outlines 25 stories of how the relics and artifacts were brought home.
The exhibition, jointly hosted by the National Cultural Heritage Administration and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, will run until late November.
