The 11th Ethnic Games， a quadrennial event to promote harmony and cultural blending among Chinas 56 ethnic groups and provide a platform for traditional sports events， opens in Zhengzhou， capital city of Henan Province in central China， on September 8.
More than 7，000 athletes competed in 17 traditional sports during the nine-day event.
