although

引导让步状语从句，意为“虽然;尽管”，可和though互换使用，但两者均不可与but连用。例如：

Although he is very old， he still works very hard. 他虽然年纪大了，但仍然很努力工作。

Though it was raining， we went there. 尽管天下着雨，但我们还是去了那儿。

so that

【温馨提示】有时so that还可引导结果状语从句，意为“以致……;结果……”。例如：

It was very cold so that the river froze. 天气寒冷，河水都结冰了。

They watched TV until the rain stopped. 他们一直看电视，直到雨停为止。

The kids didn’t leave here until their parents came back. 孩子们直到他们的父母回来才离开了这里。
