今天是平安夜，小松鼠做了一大桌菜肴，还把家装饰得美美的，他正在等待好朋友兔子的到来。可天都黑了，兔子还是没有来。小松鼠很担心：“兔子在路上遇到麻烦了吗？”到底发生了什么事情？Let’s read the story.

Squirrel is waiting for（等待） Rabbit.

He opens his door and looks out.

It is dark now， but Rabbit is not there.

Squirrel gets worried（担心的）.

“What if Rabbit falls into（掉进）a deep hole，” says Squirrel.

“And he cannot get out？”

Squirrel opens the door again.

Rabbit is not there.

“What if Rabbit is lost（迷路）in the forest？” says Squirrel.

“What if Rabbit is being chased（被追赶） by a big animal？” cries Squirrel.

“What if this animal has sharp teeth？”

Squirrel finds（找到） some rope.

“I will pull（拉） Rabbit out of the hole with this，” says Squirrel.

Squirrel finds a lantern.

“Rabbit will see this light，” says Squirrel.

“I will show him the way out of the forest.”

Squirrel finds a pan in the kitchen.

“I will hit that big animal with this，” says Squirrel.

“All of his teeth will fall out（掉落）.”

“Rabbit， do not worry，” cries Squirrel.

“I am coming to help you！”

Squirrel runs out of his house.

There is Rabbit.

“Hello， Squirrel，” says rabbit.

“I am very sorry to be late.

I am preparing（準备） your gift.”

“You are not in a deep hole？” asks Squirrel.

“No，” says Rabbit.

“You are not lost in the forest？” asks Squirrel.

“No，” says Rabbit.

“You are not being chased by a big animal？” asks Squirrel.

“No，” says Rabbit.

“Not at all.”

Squirrel is so happy！

He opens the gift from Rabbit.

It is a red warm coat.

It is nice to be together.

The two friends sit by the fire.

They spend a merry Christmas Eve.
