REPRESENTING THE PEOPLE

The annual sessions of the National Peoples Congress （NPC） and the Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference （CPPCC） National Committee， Chinas top legislature and political advisory body， respectively， are a major part of Chinas political calendar.

During the Two Sessions， deputies to the NPC and members of the CPPCC National Committee gather in Beijing. They come with suggestions and proposals， which contain the problems and issues， but also the hopes and wishes of the people they represent.

This years NPC session adopted the Foreign Investment Law， in addition to resolutions on the government work report and work reports of the NPC Standing Committee， the Supreme Peoples Court and the Supreme Peoples Procuratorate. Resolutions on reports of the national economic and social development plans as well as the central and local budgets were also endorsed. After the conclusion of the NPC session on March 15， Premier Li Keqiang met the press from home and abroad.
