Green and Highly Active Catalyst for Manufacture of PTA Displays Eye-catching Performance

The greenand highly active catalyst for manufacture of PTA, which is produced by the Jinan Zhaohui Science and Technology Company, Ltd. in collaboration with the catalyst manufacturing factory has been applied in more than 60% of PTA producers across China. By the end of 2017 adoption of this catalyst had accumulatively produced 123 million tons of high-quality PTA, resulting in a reduced emission of concentrated nitric acid totaling 28.4 thousand tons and a more than 10 RMB of reduction in the PTA catalyst production cost.
The green and highly active catalysts cobalt-manganese bromide (CMB) for oxidation of PX to PTA after their application have brought about obvious effects to the enterprises. For example, after the adoption of liquid cobalt-manganese bromide catalysts in a 350 kt/a PTA unit at the Yizheng Chemical Fiber Company, the unit catalyst consumption was reduced from 0.071 kg and 0.09 kg over the crystalline cobalt acetate and crystalline manganese acetate to 0.054 kg over the liquid cobalt acetate and 0.073kg over the liquid manganese bromide,respectively, while the PX oxidation reaction was running smoothly and under control, with the b value of PTA decreased to 0.9 from an average number of 1.2, resulting in an upgraded PTA product quality coupled with an improved quality of the downstream polyester and synthetic fiber.
Ιn 2015 the Zhejiang Yisheng Petrochemical Company in Ningbo had conducted uninterrupted application tests of the green and highly active CMB catalyst for manufacture of PTA at its new 2.0 Mt/a PTA production unit in order to compare the catalyst performance with other similar catalysts. The performance of the highly active CMB catalyst was compared with that of crystalline cobalt acetate, crystalline manganese acetate, and product of hydrobromic acid, and test results had revealed that the unit consumption of the active CMB catalyst was reduced by around 11.9%, 54.6%, and 17.5%, respectively. The PX oxidation unit has been operating smoothly with all process parameters under control, leading to an apparently improved quality of PTA product.
