海豚明星再次演绎传奇

There are challenges when luring a movie star back to a film sequel—even dolphins. Director Charles Martin Smith found this out after 2011s Dolphin Tale proved to be a breakout vehicle for his aquatic star， Winter.

“Winter had some demands， she knows shes a star now，” jokes Smith. “I did have to throw in some higher-quality herring. She wants it fresh.”

No matter how much herring is required， it was worth it for Dolphin Tale 2.

The original Dolphin Tale was a surprise hit， making close to $100 million worldwide that year. Further more， it starred the actual dolphin， Winter， whose dramatic real-life struggle inspired the movie.

In 2005， five-month-old Winter got caught by a crab trap in an accident that destroyed her tail flukes. It was a life-and-death situation for the dolphin； she struggled to stay alive while under care at Floridas rescue center， the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

“When she lost her tail， there was some talk of perhaps putting her down. No dolphin had ever survived this way，” says Smith. “But the people who worked with Winter saw such life and spirit in her. They fought to keep her alive.”

A prosthetic expert heard about her problem and built an artificial fin that would allow Winter to swim properly， inspiring the movie that starred Winter， Harry Connick Jr.， Kris Kristofferson， Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman.

The same spirit that kept Winter alive made her a star on film. Winter also remains a standout at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium， where fans still flock to visit on a daily basis.

In the new film， Winters surrogate mother， the very elderly dolphin Panama， dies. Therefore， Connick Jr. （as the aquariums Dr. Clay Haskett） needs to seek out another pool companion. Bethany Hamilton， who had her left arm bitten off by a shark while surfing in 2003， also appears in the film as herself—the two bond over their shared obstacles.

Winter seemed very exited to be shooting another film that featured much of the original cast， including Freeman as Dr. Cameron McCarthy， the prosthetic expert. Freeman says he got a special greeting from Winter when he showed up on the set.

“She gave a whistle for me，” says Freeman.“You know she recognizes you. You cannot help but to talk to her. We just dont realize how intelligent other forms of life are.”

Smith says Winter loved the attention and would make noises from the pool during scenes in which she wasnt featured.

“Shed go to the edge of the pool and whistle. It was like， ‘What about me？ She always wanted to be included，” says Smith. “Im convinced she knows when the camera is pointed in her direction. She is a bright animal and she gets it.”

If the sequel is as successful as the original， filmmakers will truly have to dig deep around negotiation time with Winter for future sequels.

“I dont think it will really go to her head actually，” says Smith. “As long as the quality of the fish remains the same and the love and care she gets stays the same， shes going to be happy. Winter is a true sweetheart.”

2005年，5个月大的温特在一次意外中被捉螃蟹的陷阱抓了个正着，更因此失去了尾鳍。对这条海豚来说，那是一个生死攸关的处境；尽管在佛罗里达的救护中心——克利尔沃特海洋水族馆得到人类的照料，她仍然在挣扎求生。

“在她失去了尾巴的时候，有人说要不要让她安乐死。没有海豚能够在这种状况下生存，”史密斯说。“但和温特一起相处过的人看到她身体和精神上的活力，于是争取保住她。”

一位假肢专家听说了她的处境，专门为她造了人工鱼鳍。有了这个鱼鳍，温特就可以好好游泳，也启发了这部汇集了温特、小哈利·康尼克、克里斯·克里斯托佛森、艾什莉·贾德和摩根·弗里曼的电影。

让温特生存下去的精神也令她成为了电影中的明星。温特现在还是克利尔沃特海洋水族馆的“红人”，每天仍然有很多粉丝涌去看她。

在新电影中，温特的替身妈妈——年事已高的海豚潘纳玛去世了。因此，小康尼克（饰演水族馆的克莱·哈斯科特博士）要为温特寻找一个泳池新伴。2003年在冲浪时被鲨鱼咬掉左臂的贝瑟尼·汉密尔顿也在这部电影中饰演自己——温特和贝瑟尼的共同障碍让她们走到了一起。

温特似乎对能够再次和原班人马拍摄新作感到非常兴奋，这些演员当中包括饰演假肢专家卡梅伦·麦卡锡博士的弗里曼。弗里曼说，当他在片场出现时，温特给了他一个特别的问候。

“她对我吹了一下口哨，”弗里曼说。“你知道她认得你，所以忍不住要和她聊聊天。我们就是意识不到其他生命体是多么的聪明。”

史密斯说温特喜欢别人的关注，不用她出场的时候，她会在池里制造噪音。

“她会游到池边吹口哨，就像在说：‘我呢？她总想加入拍摄，”史密斯说。“我不得不承认，当镜头对着她的时候，她是知道的。她是很聪明的动物，她明白的。”

如果这部续集能够像第一部那么成功，制片人就真的要认真考虑游说温特拍续集的条件了。

“我认为她不会真的去想这些事情，”史密斯说。“只要鱼的品质保持不变，她得到的爱和照顾也不变，她就会很开心。温特是一个真正的宝贝甜心。”
